Summer is Right Around the Corner

It may not look (or feel) like summer in Boston today, but I know it’s just around the corner! 8-)

This afternoon, I attended my first farmer’s market of the season, and it made me so incredibly excited for summer! Yay! (If you Bostonians are curious, it was the farmer’s market in Copley Square, which is open Tuesday and Fridays, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM.)

Unfortunately, I didn’t buy anything at the market because I didn’t have any cash on me, but it was still fun to peruse and imagine what items I would purchase.

To find a farmer’s market near you, check out the following links:

Lunch

In between appointments and errands, I enjoyed lunch at the Squealing Pig with two of my old HSPH coworkers. I still talk to these friends a couple times a week, but I haven’t got together with them since the winter. It was nice catching up and hearing about the office “drama!”

For lunch, I ordered the Toasted Grilled Salmon Sandwich. The bread was especially fabulous– thick, grainy, and grilled to perfection!

Inside the sandwich was grilled salmon, spinach, potato slices, and dill yogurt.

On the side was a wonderful tangy potato salad made with red potatoes, red onions, scallions, and a full-flavored whole-grain mustard dressing. Delish!

I ate about 3/4 of the meal, including both the sandwich and potato salad.

With the check, our server brought some chocolate truffles. It was the perfect way to end the meal and satisfy my sweet tooth!

I don’t think I’m ready for bikini season! I’ve lost all the weight from having a baby 3 months ago, but I still have some work to do on my “mommy belly.” Even last year when I was in the best shape of my life I dreaded bikini season though, so perhaps I’ll never really be ready! :-)

I love going to the market. Ours starts on Sat. I can’t wait. Love your lunch choice. Might try to recreate that one:) I just got back from a week in FL, spent a lot of time in my bikini, so hopefully I didn’t scare anyone…ha!!

So not ready! I have been far too sedentary lately and put my Healthworks membership on hold for the summer!
Great photos of the farmer’s market. I try to visit the Copley one once a week, but couldn’t get out today!

I dont feel ready for bikini season AT ALL, but I’m trying to come to terms with that one day at a time. Then, maybe, I can refocus and get to a bikini body healthily!

I miss the farmers market in Copley Square. I used to love the one up on Cambridge St by Government Center too. So much fun!

I’ve actually never worn a bikini (at least not since I was a toddler!) so I’d say not ready. I’m ready for tankini season though. ;)

    Love farmer’s markets!

I’ve already been in my bikini a few times this summer, and while I’m definitely “not ready” I have been way more confident than ever before, because for once in my life I know that I am really respecting my body and I’m learning to appreciate even small improvements. So even though I’m no bikini model, I’m rocking my bikini anyways!

Omg Copley Square Farmer’s Market is the best! Last fall I’d just go there every Friday, buy what looked good (for ridiculously cheap) and live on produce all week. I ate seriously like three apples a day. It was bliss!

Thanks for all the links – very helpful! I must get myself to a farmer’s market very very soon.

I really want to send you a pic of my fridge, but it’s a complete mess right now. I know that’s probably the point – but our fridge is in the worst condition it’s been in a while – completely empty! We’re going on a trip, so it makes it hard to keep stocked up.

It’s been years since I wore an actual bikini! I have scaring on my stomach from an accident, so I tend to cover up. I am ready to hit the pool in my tankini though :)

OMG! That farmer’s market looks so beautiful! I can’t wait unitl ours opens here, but I think there’s something to be said for the size and quality of east coast produce over the parched Utah variety :)

I’m always ready – I am what I am, after all. I believe in self-improvement and that we’re all works in progress, but at the same time, I’m not going to ever wait to start living and enjoying my life.
