For Father’s Day, we (Mal, his father, sister, step-mother, grandmother, and I) celebrated with a late brunch at Salty’s on Alki Beach.

I’ve never been to a restaurant like Salty’s before. It’s truly in a class all by itself. The view is one of the best in Seattle and the seafood and friendly, attentive service is one of the best I have encountered ever.

Salty’s is known for its impressive Sunday brunch buffet. I’m not usually a fan of buffets– they gross me out for some reason– but Salty’s was different. The buffet dishes were replaced frequently so they food wasn’t sitting out getting all nasty and the selections themselves were rather “upscale,” including super fresh seafood, an omelette station, healthy salads, pasta dishes, and an amazing spread of desserts! Holy yum! No wonder Salty’s Sunday brunch was voted the Nation’s Best Brunch by MSN Citysearch.com. It’s so fancy!

My plate…

The carrot cake was delightful! It was packed with raisins and nuts and the cream cheese frosting was to die for! And how cute is it? 😀

I enjoyed my carrot cake cupcake with a mug of hot coffee. Salty’s guests enjoy dining outside on the seaside patio, but boy was it chilly! The coffee helped warm me up a little.

Round #2 of dessert was a thick blondie layered with chocolate. It was SO GOOD! I totally didn’t need more food, but I am happy that I didn’t pass up this treat!

And jut when I thought I couldn’t eat a bite more, our waitress brought out 3 pieces of white chocolate birthday cake for those of us who recently celebrated. (Mal’s sister, his dad, and I all have birthdays in the same week in June. Needless to say, Mal gets killed with birthday presents around this time!)

I only had a couple of bites of the birthday cake. I was stuffed, but it also wasn’t very good– it had some major freezer burn taste to it. Ick.

Salty’s view from the deck is of the Elliott Bay and the Seattle city skyline. It was gorgeous!

After brunch at Satly’s, we headed down to Puget Sound for an hour-long sightseeing tour around the harbor.

Seattle has a beautiful skyline!

Mal and I tried hard to snap a nice photo of us while we were on the boat tour, but it was so windy, we never got a good one.

(This series of photos cracks me up!)
