Keeping It Simple

June 8, 2009

Just a quickie post tonight. I’ve got my PJs, a movie, and my husband waiting for me– wires and all! ;-)

Dinner tonight was a simple tuna sandwich made with Claire’s delicious relish (instead of mayo) on a Sandwich Thin. On the side, I had a salad topped with almond slices and balsamic vinegar.

Simple and satisfying!

LOVE your simple supper because it’s the most perfect, simple way to end a Monday, in my opinion. :D

I haven’t read that article yet, but I’m off to read it right after this…

Interesting article. I can definitely relate to it. I started reading blogs in 2000…before most people knew what blogs were! Then I started my own blog in 2004 and had a small following, but I grew tired of feeling like I *had* to have something to write every day (or every few days). I finally said farewell to blogging and have never regretted it. I enjoy reading others blogs, but not having the stress of keeping up with my own. And whereas my blog was anonymous (as the majority used to be), most blogs these days are not anonymous…which is something I don’t think I could do either.

You have so many great, simple dinner ideas! I sometimes feel like I HAVE to make a whole hot meal every single night, and its refreshing to remember I don’t!

Aren’t these sandwich thins the best? I eat them toasted in the morning, on sandwiches, they’re so good and hard to believe so low in calories/high in fiber.

I actually had that article bookmarked to read! I thought it was interesting, especially the struggle to remain anonymous. I think it’s sometimes easier to relate with bloggers who you know a little something about. Therefore I can see how a blogger that wanted to stay hidden would struggle to find a readership.

that’s an interesting article – I didn’t really think about how different it might be now compared to a few years ago, but it makes sense.

pjs + movie sounds like a good night to me :)

Tina,

First of all, love the blog! Secondly, I know you’re not an RD, but I have a question about a ‘happy weight.’

I’m active, eat below my BMR (healthfully, never less than 1200 cals) in an attempt to lose weight, and I just stay the saaame.

I’ve seen a dietician in the past and was advised to eat more to lose, and have tried that, and I GAINED weight.

I’ve also had my thyroid tested & results = normal – could slow metabolism be to blame?

Could it be that I’ve reached my body’s ‘happy weight’ even though I’m not ‘happy’ with it?

Thanks, and I understand if you’re not comfortable answering this question, thanks for motivating me to practice all things in moderation.

Amy

I love sandwiches for dinner!

I hope you’re able to sleep well with the monitor! I had one earlier this year and was so afraid I’d come unplugged in the middle of the night!

I read that article the other day and thought it was really interesting! I can definitely relate, I debated about starting a food blog but finally decided I just didn’t have the time or want to spend the effort to be posting a bunch of times a day. Oh well!

@amy: Hi Amy! I was going to suggest your thyroid, but maybe you’re just not happy with your “happy weight”? Is it a number on the scale that will make you happy? How long have you been at your current weight? Another suggestion is up-ing the amount of strength training you do. I noticed a big different in my body once I started to incorporate free weights into my exercise routine.

Wow, that article was very insightful. I would say the “honeymoon period” with my blog has ended but I love to write and I’m very passionate about healthy living so I know its not over for me, I just need to focus on what it is I want to say through the blog :)

Thanks for sharing the article! I think it’s definitely valid – I mean how many blogs do we see that start up, and then basically disappear? Or some of our haituses. It is definitely a committment that not everyone is willing to do. Very interesting stuff.
