Green Mango Smoothie

June 17, 2009

Good morning, blog friends!

My Hump Day is off to a great start! I had a wonderful workout followed by an even more wonderful breakfast.

I started with a delicious and super filing Green Mango Smoothie.

Green Mango Smoothie

  • 1 mango, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped frozen spinach
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
  • 1 -2 tbsp hemp protein (or other protein powder)
  • 5-8 ice cubs

Along with my smoothie, I also enjoyed a Peanut Buttery Bar, and I’m planning to finish off breakfast with an iced coffee with agave nectar and soy milk. I love these types of breakfasts that satisfy me both mentally and physically. :-D

Workout

Strength Training: 30 minutes

  • Triceps Press/Knee Tuck (8-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Wide-Stance Deadlift (12-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Pilé-Curl Combo (12-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Rocket Squat (10-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Single-Leg Row (8-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Balancing Biceps (12-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Supergirl Hamstring Curl (8-pound dumbbells, 15 reps, 2 sets)
  • Squat Flye (10-pound dumbbells, 15 resp, 2 sets)

Cardio: 30 minutes

mmm maybe if I can I’ll bake your peanut buttery bars for the potluck this Sunday! I heard you can’t come!!! Hopefully next time, I would love to meet you and talk to you about your job. I am really interested in pursuing the same type of career as you. Your mango smoothie looks perfect!
I would have to say right now my favorite day of the week in WED. because it’s my last day of class for the week and then my weekend begins!!!! And I get to go to a SOX game tonight!!!

YUM! i think i might have to try the peanut buttery bars.

Per your house hunt… Definitely look at a lot of places. And be prepared for ANYTHING! we had a nightmare of a mortgage lender that worked with us, and completely screwed us over. and we ended up having to put more money down, and close 2 days later than we were supposed to! You’re definitely lucky with the first time home buyers 8000 credit.

Those peanut buttery bars look awesome; I already book marked the recipe!

My favorite day of the week is up in the air right now! Normally I love weekends, but with my sweetheart gone (it’s been 10 weeks today!!! AHHH!) the weekends are less shiny. He should be home soon, though, so Sunday will probably be my favorite day :)

SATURDAY! No work and no dread of work for the next day.

That truly looks like the perfect breakfast! Using frozen spinach is such a clever idea, I bet it makes the smoothie much thicker!

Friday is my favorite day of the week. I’m off on Fridays and it’s my day to get everything done. Saturday is my second favorite!
What a great workout!

My favorite day is definitely Friday.

@Andrea: If you google the terms, you’ll be able to find their descriptions. Most of them are from health/fitness magazines.

I think my favorite day of the week is Sunday. I usually take this day to do what I love, cook and bake. Some Sundays I don’t even get out of my P.J’s. I just enjoy being home in my “little” nest.
I was hoping you might be able to know the nutrtional value on the bars and how many does it serve?

Sounds like the perfect start to your morning – a sweaty workout and a yummy breakfast!

Fridays are definitely up there but for the sake of being “original” I would have to say Monday because it’s a fresh start and usually good shows are on TV!

Ahhh, just made my first smoothie with spinach this morning – loved it! What a good idea to use frozen spinach! Cheaper and adds to the ice ratio!!

I love Saturdays – I get to get caught up on life with errands and then typically visit with friends and family later in the day. All my favorite things!

your pb bars look great!

I love Fridays and Saturdays the best. Fridays are more relaxed at work and I can wear jeans, and Saturdays are our day to day whatever we want.

I had mango and spinach in my green monster this morning too! Plus some frozen pineapple while turned out to be perfect for this finally hot day!
My favorite day is by far Friday. It seems so full of excitement and possibility with the entire weekend ahead. I love Friday nights knowing that, even though I usually wake up early on Saturday, I have a couple of hours before rushing anywhere.
Jennifer- green smoothies are absolutely delish. I have even gotten my meat and potatoes Irish husband addicted to them. They taste like fruit.

Ooo mango smoothie!! Good idea, it looks great, as do those peanut buttery bars!! :) Thumbs up to those!

My favorite day(s) of the week are Wednesdays and Fridays! Fridays, for the obvious it’s-the-weekend reasons, and Wednesdays because they’re right smack in the middle of the week and just a lot of fun! :)

Have a great day Tina!

When it is my weekend off, I love Fridays most, because it is the BEGINNING of the weekend :) Otherwise, I enjoy any day I have off from work.

I love Saturdays! Fridays are usually the worst for me because I’m so drained.

Reply

Sarah June 17, 2009 at 9:27 am

That green mango smoothie sounds great! I agree with the other commenters, Saturday is my favorite :) I usually get up early to watch the news (or read blogs!), drink some coffee and relax on the couch with my doggie. Sometimes I make a special breakfast or go for a run, but it’s time I really get to myself to do whatever I want.

Anne K. June 17, 2009 at 9:28 am

That looks delicious! I’m saving this recipe for when I have my surgery and will probably have to have a lot of smoothies :)

My favorite day is Saturday! It’s the very beginning of the weekend, and so promising :D

Tina,
During my summer break, I don’t start work until 11 am and do my workouts in the morning. I know you usually snack before a morning work out. Do you very the “energy density” of the snack based on the workout? For example, today I did a 45 min spinning class followed by a 1 hour toneing/aerobic type class. I’m just not sure how “big” of a snack to have, because I don’t want it to ruin my normal breakfast. Afterall, it’s my favorite meal! :)

Reply

Tina June 17, 2009 at 10:04 am

@Allison: I don’t always eat a snack before my morning workout. It just depends on my hunger level. It’s usually a 100-150 calorie snack, if I have one– just to tie me over until breakfast.

Jennifer June 17, 2009 at 10:05 am

Tina- b/c monkey see, monkey do it seems in the blog world. Someone gets BB so everyone has to get it. Now everyone actually can stand the sight of a GREEN drink. Or someone gets “raw” bars that look like poop and then everyone has to get them. It’s like the idea of eating normal healthy food has gone out of style.

I love making peanut butter bars. I haven’t had them in what seems like forever though – yours look deelish! I think I’m the only one out there who has yet to try a “green” smoothie. Hahah. My time will come.

Friday is probobly my favorite since I start my day with a long run at the YMCA, I know I won’t have to WORK after that morning, I go swimming and stay at my grandma’s (very nice) house, and Friday is WHOLE FOODS DAY! Me and grams usually stop by WF and Fresh Market Friday evening to pick up dinner and weekly groceries. Friday rocks.

I say Friday evening is the best… the long weekend stretched out ahead is a good feeling.
