Good morning, blog friends!
My Hump Day is off to a great start! I had a wonderful workout followed by an even more wonderful breakfast.
I started with a delicious and super filing Green Mango Smoothie.
Green Mango Smoothie
- 1 mango, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped frozen spinach
- 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
- 1 -2 tbsp hemp protein (or other protein powder)
- 5-8 ice cubs
Along with my smoothie, I also enjoyed a Peanut Buttery Bar, and I’m planning to finish off breakfast with an iced coffee with agave nectar and soy milk. I love these types of breakfasts that satisfy me both mentally and physically.

I was excited to see you use frozen spinach in your smoothie. I’ve often wondered why no one seems do do that, since frozen tends to be cheaper than fresh, and there’s that theory that frozen veggies have more nutrients, being frozen at their peak and all that. Did you notice any difference using the frozen vs. fresh spinach (assuming you’ve used fresh before; I can’t quite remember!). Thanks!
@Lindsay Y.: I’ve never used fresh spinach, but frozen worked GREAT!
love the mango addition! I love the idea of using frozen spinach (i always use fresh) — that way the smoothie stays cold!
I don’t mean to be rude because I love your blog, but your strength workouts make me laugh. It’s obvious that you don’t take strength training seriously. I mean 10 and 12 lb dumbbells? Come on, you should be using 20 to 25 lb dumbbells for any type of decent workout. And it seems so disorganized. You should focus on just one or two muscle groups at a time to really work them out. Do you even feel any muscle pain after these workouts? I’m guessing no. But then again you remind me of 95% of girls in the weight room doing there ‘barbie’ weight workouts. You should put down Shape magazine and pick up something that will teach you something about a real weight workout.
I so need to invest in a blender so I can make some of those delicious looking smoothies!!!
Saturday is my favorite because I don’t have to take care of the kids all by myself, which is great but very tiring! Do you have any make ahead breakfast ideas that my family can make for Father’s day? I haven’t been able to think of anything so I thought I would see if you have any ideas. My husbands parents will be staying with us and they are VERY early risers (sometimes 4:30am!) so if I can make it the night before and maybe just heat it up in the morning that would really help. Have a great day Tina!
Your smoothie and pb breakfast treat look delicious!
I think my favorite day is Thursday…because I get excited about the weekend coming up! Friday is a close second
Courtney- that’s ridiculous. I can’t even lift 20 to 25 pound dumbbells for pete’s sake!
Tina, love your smoothie!! Looks so nice and thick! I am a big fan of Saturdays.
Green mango smoothies are my fave!
Friday is my favorite day because of all the potential weekends have!
What’s ridiculous is that Courtney starts a rude post with “I don’t mean to be rude, but”. I mean, personally I use heavier weights but that is just me and I would never “laugh” at someone else’s workout just because it was not the same as mine.
Stephanie- 20 to 25 lb dumbbells instead of 10 to 12 for bicep curls i’m sure you would agree no? I doubt you are lifting much heavier. If you take strength training seriously as you have implied, then you will also agree that these strength training workouts can not be very effective. Most girls are unaware that you can and should lift heavier for better results.
AS for Tina, if you concentrated on doing more effective leg workouts, you would probably reduce your likelihood of getting injured during half-marathon training.
Your smoothie is so greeeen! Mine always turn out looking like sewage
I love Thursdays because it’s the start of my weekend!
Actually Courtney, although I do use heavier weights for biceps (20lbs now) that would not make me agree with your comment because it was so rude and not necessarily true. First, you don’t know what Tina’s goals are for her training, her strength etc. And further, if you were so experienced you would know that even a 5lb weight could be hard enough if you a) increased the reps b) did the reps slower etc. c)combined it with other moves (aka lunges) To challenge your muscles you have to constantly change things up and that is how you get results. It is not all about the weight.
I think I’ll have to try those peanut butter bars!
As an actor, I have ALOT of free time so the days tend to blend into one another. However, I really love Saturdays because everyone who’s not an actor that I know (my hubby especially) is free to hang with too. Better than Sundays because then I dread being by my lonesome again.
