Dream House
Of course, I would love to own a gorgeous home like this:
But, unfortunately, Mal and I don’t have that type of money!
However, it’s still fun to dream about!
Here’s what my dream house would look like:
- 4 bedrooms
- 2 baths
- Lot of windows and sunlight
- Open kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances
- Walk-in closet for me!
- Big-ish yard for my pug!
- Patio/porch for entertaining and BBQing
- Small sunroom
- Home gym!
- Fireplace
- LAUNDRY ROOM!!!
- Hardwood floors
- Built-in bookshelves
- Driveway for at least 2 cars
- Near public transportation and shopping
Feel free to chime in with your own dream house specs! I love playing house!
Lunch
I have a million little errands that I need to do on my lunch break, so I ate lunch at my desk today.
The highlight of lunch was yogurt mixed with a sample of Bear Naked granola. I tried the Fruit and Nut variety, which was a soft and chewy blend of whole grains, hearty nuts, and dried fruits. Holy yum! Frickin’ amazing granola! I might need to start buying this one!
Another yummy lunch element was a Chocolate Mint Luna Cookie, which tasted like a delicious mint-flavored brownie, but, sadly, was gone before I knew it! The cookie was pretty small, but for just 130 calories, it satisfied by sweet tooth without going overboard.
I also packed some homemade fruit salad for lunch.

You defintely need an ensuite in the master bedroom, love it could never do without another one.
ps I think most houses nowadays come with laundry rooms
gotta love apartment living!

Somehow my first post got deleted. My dream house would be a 4 bedroom brownstone with 2 baths, including 1 that has a jacuzzi and separate shower/steamroom area. It would have a fireplace, roofdeck, huge kitchen, small backyard, and lots of windows with window seats. A year round sunroom would also be nice
Sorry if this gets posted twice!

Your dream house sounds awesome! I would also love a pool in mine!
Nicole — June 16, 2009 @ 1:39 pm
My dream home would have a big, sunny kitchen with an island and lots of counter space and cabinets! There would also be a hanging pot rack. I want one of those so badly! As for the rest of the house, I’d like something small and intimate. Preferably on a farm
Susan — June 16, 2009 @ 1:39 pm
Tina – I just found sandwich thins! They are Orowheat out west, I think yours are Arnold. They are SO awesome – toasted, in a sandwich – so versatile!! Had one with my passion barney butter this morning!! Thanks!!!
brandi — June 16, 2009 @ 1:39 pm
i just want an awesome kitchen, more than 1 bathroom, more closets than we have now and nice porch for grilling and eating outside. Other than that, I’ll be set
I loved that luna cookie- i tried it the other day, but I can’t buy them around here!
Victoria — June 16, 2009 @ 1:42 pm
I love our current house. It’s big, with all new appliances and a huge kitchen island… but I wish it were somewhere rather than indiana.
Maria — June 16, 2009 @ 1:44 pm
Love your dream house! We have hardwood floors upstairs and I love them, a must for me too:) I also want a HUGE kitchen that is open, lots of windows, and lots of counter/storage space. I would love a walk in fridge too:) Of course a fitness center, pool, tennis court, and big garden/fruit trees. I also want a big porch! I could go on and on, but I will stop now:) Good luck!
Nicole (dishin') — June 16, 2009 @ 1:45 pm
My dream house is very similar to yours. A big kitchen, porch and walk-in closet are at the top of my list!
I saw a tour of Paula Deen’s house on TV and it was awesome – my dream house for sure. She even has a outdoor BBQ area with a built in grill, fridge and bar. Sigh..
That Luna cookie looks good. Where do you buy them? I can’t find them anywhere and I’m in the Boston area too.
Happy House Hunting!

Your dream house is just like mine! haha
I would love a swimming pool with a grotto and waterfall though. =)

If we’re talking dreams, I’d have TWO. One dream home would be a gorgeous condo loft with river views in NYC. It would have super high ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows, very modern, sleek furniture, a huge chef’s kitchen and a deck with a small herb/fruit/veggie garden (and jaccuzzi!).
Home #2 would be much like yours!
Amanda — June 16, 2009 @ 2:07 pm
Dream big, girl – have at least THREE bathrooms
Definitely wanting a 4 br, 3 bath, with hardwood floors, a huuuge kitchen, lots of sunlight, backyard/patio for the dogS and kids (someday) and parties
Also want my own gym and my own yoga studio! It’d be great to be right near some awesome running trails, too!

Ahhhh dream houses! That one is gorgeous! I want you guys to get a pug so bad!!
Recipes for creativity — June 16, 2009 @ 2:11 pm
Ooh dream house: definitely an office for me and one for my sweetheart (instead of us sharing!), plus at least two bedrooms, a nice sun porch with a view, a gorgeous bright kitchen that opens up into a living room, and of course a gorgeous front porch for rocking and a back porch for summertime dinners.
Sarah — June 16, 2009 @ 2:25 pm
I love dream houses! I would like 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, pretty much everything else you listed, plus a basement (aka man cave for the husband and all his sports memorabilia) and an in-ground pool. Right now, I think any house I look at (realistically) is going to have to have a very nice kitchen with lots of space
Jocelyn — June 16, 2009 @ 2:35 pm
I have to admit I’mn so jealous that Canada doesn’t get the cool products like usa get! (aka..certain stony.f.yogurts, greek yogurt, luna cookies)
bah
I’d like to live on a ranch or farm house some day
Hannah — June 16, 2009 @ 2:39 pm
I’m a huge traditionalist – I’d love an old Colonial style home, but modern on the inside – especially the kitchen!
I think it’d also be great to renovate my home to be environmentally friendly, solar panels would be awesome (though SO expensive initially!)!!
Julie — June 16, 2009 @ 2:52 pm
Doesn’t lving in this area suck for home prices?! For a house like your dream house in the south of Boston area you’d pay an arm and a leg, and have to sign over your first born child to afford it. This is why I want to move down south!! I watch house hunters and ghasp at how much cheaper houses are down there!
My dream home has a huge back yard, sun room, hardwood floors, 2.5 baths, 4 bedrooms, finished basement, amazingly huge top of the line kitchen, and I’ve always wanted a room above the garage. Oh and a wrap around porch! Love those.
jenna — June 16, 2009 @ 2:59 pm
that house is fabulous!!!
Love your lunch, so simple and tasty!
alli — June 16, 2009 @ 3:00 pm
my fiance and i just bought our dream house a couple of months ago and it’s pretty much what you described! the kitchen was better than i ever imagined… we were sold immediately! we looked at a bunch of houses and when we saw this one we knew it was perfect… it’s like you don’t really know what you want until you see it! good luck with everything
Melissa — June 16, 2009 @ 3:04 pm
I think you described a lot of peoples dream house!! The picture of that house is amazing, I LOVE it!!
Melissa @ For the Love of Health — June 16, 2009 @ 3:07 pm
oh dream homes
I agree with the awesome kitchen- that is always at the top of my list haha and walk-in closet is a definite necessity. I’d also like 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a nice large family room to hang out in…I could go on and on
Good luck househunting!
Kat — June 16, 2009 @ 3:13 pm
I would love anything with a backyard where I can plant a garden. And a laundry room. And a HUUUUGE kitchen with new appliances! siiiigh……
MoodyFoody — June 16, 2009 @ 3:30 pm
everything you described plus a lake view!! would love to have a year round sun room or a big bathroom with jacuzzi that overlooks the lake
Jennifer — June 16, 2009 @ 3:38 pm
I always wanted a dream home like the one you describe… and then I thought how the THOUGHT of living outside D.C./NY/major European city or in the suburbs gives me the heebie-jeebies and I’d rather have a dream condo!
april — June 16, 2009 @ 4:22 pm
i love that brand of granola! They make a chocolate version that is super yummy too!
Johanna B — June 16, 2009 @ 4:44 pm
I’m on the other end of life. My daughter is grown and living on her own so my needs are different. I’d love to have a condo with 2 BR, bath and a half, kitchen with a walk-in pantry, gas stove, electric oven, island with running water and prep sink, huge fridge/freezer (can you tell I’ve tho’t about this?)and a vaulted ceiling in the living room with a wood burning fireplace, and a big deck for sunning and reading.
Anne K. — June 16, 2009 @ 5:36 pm
That’s such a pretty house! My dream house would have a home gym, an ice skating rink, a swimming pool, a track, a huge music room with several different kinds of harps and a grand piano… I’d also have it on a lot of property, and have a barn nearby. I’d also want running trails! Basically, I want the most active house ever
I don’t even really care how many bedrooms/bathrooms, just that it has all the other stuff! Haha. Nevermind how much that’d actually cost…
Lauren — June 16, 2009 @ 5:51 pm
Hey Tina – have you been able to find the Luna Cookies around here? I picked a few up down in PA, but haven’t seen them in Boston.
I do love that Bear Naked Granola!
Your dream house sounds awesome. I also love day dreaming about our future house!

Agreed on your dream house stats – I also need to also have a nice, fenced in yard for my jack russell, Julius. I’d also love a screening room, since we watch movies almost every night. Hey, we’re dreaming here, right?!

My b/f and I are also house-hunting right now…talk about a PITA (pain in the ass). It’s fun but at the same time it’s like you want to make the right decision and there are SO MANY options! Good luck

Hi Tina! As somewho who recently became a homeowner this February for the first time, I know how stressful it can be!!! But don’t fear, you will find something great and in the end it will be SOO worth it
Also, I made your coconute date cookies last night and they were so, absolutely, positively, phenomenally delicious. I truly can’t stop eating or thinking about them!!! I wrote about it on my blog and gave you all the credit. I CANNOT say enough about how much me and the hubby loved them, so thanks so much!!! Keep the great, creative, healthful recipes comin’

I love Bear Naked Granola! It’s the best!
Good Luck with your house hunting! I just sold my house. Both buying and selling is very stressful, but totally worth it in the end

While I am super blessed and lucky to have the big, nice house that we have, one thing I wish it had was a mud room of sorts. The way it is, we walk in from the garage, near the front door, into the living room, trapse through the living room with groceries, etc. to get to the kitchen. It has left a nice trail in the carpet from all the traffic to and fro. Also during winter snow fun and summer water fun, the kids come right in and have nowhere to dump all their stuff, so it ends up in the entry way. Look for a house with a mud room!!!! That and if you’re going to have kids, make sure your house has more than one bedroom on the floor with the master bedroom. Ours is nice that way, but I remember so many homes we looked at had just the master bedroom on one floor and all the others on another floor. You’ll want a baby nearby, not up or down away from you!
Happy hunting. So fun!

My boyfriend and I can’t wait to have a yorkie named Dwight and he can’t wait to have a Mac desktop computer. We play house all the time. haha

I really didn’t care for the Bear Naked granola, but I think I just had the raisin kind? I’d like to try a sample of that.

Tina-
Where is that dream house located? Great choice! My husband and I live in Boston and we love driving out to the suburbs to just see some of the beautiful neighborhoods. Is it in MA and is there a listing with more photos? Thanks so much.
Rebeca — June 17, 2009 @ 12:04 am
