Views from the Yard

May 20, 2009

Harvard Yard is so beautiful this afternoon– just had to share! :-D

The weather is perfect today: low 70′s and sunny. 8-) I’d love to play hooky for the rest of the afternoon! ;-)

Oh well, one can dream!

Lunch

I scored a nice little table with a view of the Yard to eat my lunch today. The undergrads are in their final days of exams, so you can tell who is spending their day cramming and who is already celebrating summer vacation!

My lunch was a homemade salad, a piece of leftover cheddar-broccoli “malzone,” a very ripe peach, and a GNU bar (oatmeal raisin flavor) for “dessert.” The oatmeal raisin GNU bar tasted very much like a soft oatmeal raisin cookie. I’m not sure I can give up a real oatmeal raisin cookie on Cookie Friday, but this GNU bar is a wonderful alternative for when I get a crazy cookie craving!

Overall, it was an excellent lunch– delicious and satisfying on all fronts. For an afternoon snack, I have a Better Whey Yogurt (not pictured).

I hope you read my Health article this morning. To compliment it, here’s a cool article about smoothies from the NYTimes.

Enjoy the day, blog friends! After work, I’m off to yoga!

hey tina, i was wondering if you are nervous about sundays race since you haven’t been running as much because of your hip or if you have altered your original goal to finish without stopping? i’m also running the half on sunday, hope we have good weather!

@Audrey W.: Run without stopping is still the plan, but we’ll see what happens. At this point, I just hope my leg doesn’t fall off! :)

Tina – I caved and paid the crazy price for my very first jar of Barney Butter last night!! SO Yummy!!! — but does yours separate? Do you keep it in the fridge or not?? LOVE the taste though!!

@Susan: Awesome! I hope you LOVE it! To answer your questions: no, it doesn’t separate and I don’t keep it in the fridge.

Ok… I just had to laugh when I saw the pictures of Harvard Yard. On a day like that where I went to school, there would be students ALL OVER the grass playing frisbee or disc golf or napping, regardless of any impending final exams. At Harvard, the kids are actually STUDYING, which is why they are nowhere to be seen in the pics! Just one more reason why they are all probably TONS smarter than me! ;)

Pretty pictures! And yes, that GNU is a wonderful alternative to an oatmeal raisin cookie!
