Perishable

May 6, 2009

This afternoon, I received a call from our apartment building’s management company about a “perishable package” that I needed to pick up in the Leasing Office “as soon as I got home.” Sounds rather suspicious, huh? I had a feeling that the package was some sort of food product, but I wonder what the management thought!? 8-O

Check out what was inside! A mini cooler + radio!

It even came with batteries!

Mal was a million times more excited about the cooler + radio than I was. In fact, he’s already making plans for it (beach + beer)! I was pretty psyched about the product inside: Quorn Meatless and Soy-free Naked Chik’n Cutlets. I need a little more protein in my diet, and these babies have 11 grams of protein and just 80 calories per serving. Not too shabby! I’ll give ya a full review once I try them.

Dinner

I had no idea what to make for dinner tonight, but we had so many veggies in our fridge, including roasted veggies from last night, I wanted to make a meal with lots of them in it. I wasn’t in the mood for another salad, so I threw together an egg white-veggie scramble with goat cheese and rosemary

In the mix: broccoli, red peppers, summer squash, zucchini, goat cheese, rosemary, and freshly ground pepper.

I baked another batch of “Skinny” Oatmeal Raisin Bars, so I’m off to indulge in one (or two)! Good night!

Wow…a cooler and radio! I think the old-fashioned wicker picnic basket is a lot more romantic, but the cooler and radio sounds very useful.

Love the comment about your landlord. What else could perishable mean but food?? Sometimes you wonder.

Good thing your apartment complex called you! When I got my better whey of life yogurt they just left it out and when we randomly stopped by and checked before closing they were like “oh good thing you came by, this would have been sitting out all weekend!”. And yes it had perishable written all over it. Genius.

The chik’n cutlets are great! I grill them on the George Forman then put then on salad with avacado, goat cheese, and cherry tomatoes, amazing!

I’ve always had my doubts about Quorn… there was some controversy over it a few years ago involving the FDA and whether or not it was safe to eat. I think they’ve reformulated it though now… I just can’t quite shake the bias I’ve built against it!
Then again, I’ve never tried it, so I’m curious to hear your review…
