Maybe this is a food blogger thing, but every time I buy a new bowl/plate/dish, I get so excited because I can use it on the blog!
This morning’s “new” bowl is actually almost as old as me. My grandparents lived in Switzerland for many years, and shortly after I was born, they purchased this bowl (below) from Chamonix for me. It has the name “Christine” painted on the side, which I guess was the closest they could find to my actual name “Christina.” It’s funny because my mom still occasionally calls me “Christine” instead of my actual name. Inside the bowl are three hand-painted blue flowers. It’s very pretty and the perfect size for oatmeal!
In the mix:
- 1/3 cup dry oats
- 1/4 cup wheat bran
- 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
- 1 tbsp hemp protein
- 1/2 cup of vanilla hemp milk
- Splash of water
- Golden raisins
- 2 big-ass scoops of Barney Butter
Here’s my new bowl full of oats with iced coffee and organic strawberries that are going bad faster than I can eat them!

Too funny. I think my cats need some yoga sometimes but I dont have a dog.
can i just say, i love that you wrote “2 big-ass scoops of barney butter”– that made my morning!
Lovely bowl, Tina. I know what you mean about strawberries going bad too quickly – I’ve also been disappointed by their taste (or lack thereof) lately.
Oh my goodness!! That was the cutest pug ever!!
Have a great day Tina, cute bowl!!
Ha. I’ve heard of that before. Although, I have to say, I think my dogs already do yoga. There’s a reason it’s called downward face dog, right?
I imagine my poor dog would freak out if I ever tried to put her in a pose…
I like your bowl!
Love your bowl! I get just as excited about new dishware
It’s pretty
LOVE the bowl! and great new skinny bar recipe – I love wheat bran in baked goods
It sounds a little wacky, but my Boston terrier would LOVE it. Gentle stretching combined with attention–he’d be all over it!
MMM Barney Butter! That stuff is good…did you order yours? It’s nowhere to be found in Bean Town!
Before your strawberries go bad- freeze them! They are great in smoothies and such. Love the bowl obsession- I love new dishes as well!
at first i thought you were asking what we thought of your bowl story hahaha! then i saw the link. tough monday morning.
Great looking bowl. Love the placemat too! I want to start buying a variety of dishes too. I think I’ll check out garage sales this summer.
my dog is mental and would never ever sit still in a doga class..we tried doggy obedience school and she and my dad both failed…the teacher said “he gave into her too much and she wouldn’t listen to him because she had him wrapped around her little paw”..actual quote haha
Haha 2 big ass scoops – LOVE IT! That bowl is so cool!
Hmm, I don’t have a dog but my cats certainly do lots of cat yoga poses, especially the down dog and the cleaning the crotch. That’s not a yoga pose, is it?
I love your bowl. I have a dish fetish too. I love to browse estate sales and flea markets to find cool old unique dishes!
Oh it is a toooooootal foodie thing! My friends will laugh hysterically @ me b/c we’ll go to something like the Container Store or IKEA and I’ll always get giddy when we reach the dishes;)
OK this may be a really stupid question….and I think it may have been you that said what it was b/f??? But what exactly is wheat bran??? Like is it a meal-consistency powder? Do you microwave it? oy.
Ha! I love that your mom calls you Christine because…a bowl said it? It’s lovely. FYI, I’m totally jealous of most food bloggers because they have such a beautiful array of lovely plates.
I didn’t know your parents lived here in Swiss land! Are they Swiss? If so, are you?
that is such a beautiful bowl!
Oh my gosh I get so excited about bowls too!! I LOVE getting new ones. I have actually found some great ones at the dollarstore!
Cute bowl and what a fun story behind it!
I get super excited about new dishes too! I actually picked up some awesome new ones in Vancouver and I can’t wait to blog with them! haha I know, huge nerd! I love the story behind your bowl
Your breakfast looks soooo good!
Doga? haha My Layla would get kicked out of that in a hurry!
Love the bowl!
I read about this a couple of weeks ago and was interested. I don’t see my cockapoo being chill enough to stay still during all of this. I think he’d be more interested in jumping on people and playing with other dogs.
I know what you mean about the bowl! I got new plates last week and was only excited because of the blog! Such a cute pug!
That first picture on that article is hilarious! I understand about the strawberries. I bought 8 pounds of strawberries last week and made a bunch of jam and syrups. I saved a bunch out to eat but they went bad within a few days! I finished the last of them this morning!
My dog loves to stretch and I encourage it. Whenever she stretches I repeat stretch, stretch, stretch and she seems to get further into it. I bought a Doga DVD online within the last 6 months, but can’t say I use it all to often.
I love your bowl- I have been buying fun ones lately too! My dog loves doing downward dog.
Ha ha
I just bought a recycled glass bowl from Target and it was the highlight of my shopping trip. My boyfriend thinks I’m nuts, hehe. And I second the motion to freeze the strawberries before they go bad – they’ll make the perfect smoothie addition
I also love that you wrote “2 big-ass scoops.”
Love the bowl and the story that went with it!
My aunt gave me a Doga book for my pooch for Christmas. It’s really cool to see what all the poses mean!
