Oats at Home and MyWayCereal Review

May 1, 2009

Delicious oats. Oh, how I have missed you!

Oats on-the-go get the job done, but a big bowl of stovetop oats with all of your favorite fixings, enjoyed in the comfort of your own home, is just the best! Don’t you agree?

In today’s mix:

The macadamia-cashew nut butter was fantastic! It had a hint of natural sweetness that came through from the nuts and a thick, smooth texture perfect for spreading. So good!

With a glass of iced coffee with chocolate soy milk and agave nectar…

MyWayCereal Review

Ok, here’s what you need to know about MyWayCereal: It is so friggin’ delicious, I cannot stop eating it! Seriously, I received their funky container full of my “CNC Cereal Mix” on Saturday, and not even a week later, it is one serving away from being completely gone! It didn’t even have a chance around me!

Here’s the deal with MyWayCereal:

Design your own handcrafted, custom mixed all organic cereal now. Select your base cereal, add your favorite all organic ingredients, name your mix, and checkout. It is fun, simple, and best of all, you get what you want delivered to your door in just a few days!

In my mix:

  • Hempoppy
  • Cranberries
  • Dates
  • Pecans
  • Almonds
  • Choco-macadamias

Best.cereal.ever!!! I’m seriously considering ordering some more… although, I’m worried that I will devour it in a few days again! MyWayCereal is not safe around me!

New Blog Feature

Check out my new blog feature: Wine Reviews!!

Obviously, I’m not a wine connoisseur. I basically know nothing about wine, but I love it and know what I like… and honestly, isn’t that all that matters? ;-) I love trying new wines, especially good affordable (even cheap) bottles, which is like finding a hidden treasure to me! Hopefully, my wine “reviews” will be helpful to you when selecting a new bottle to try! More reviews to come!

Your MyWay cereal looks fantastic! YUM!

I don’t eat cold cereal very often, because I am addicted to oatmeal. When I do go for something cold, I have some sort of granola.

The oatmeal looks awesome today Tina! No form of granola is safe around me! I make it every weekend to put in Josh’s lunches (to combo with his yogurts) and always find myself munching on it! I think I will be participating in cookie day this week :)

The cereal looks delicious. What a good idea, this MyWayCereal! I’m definitely going to give that a try. I have always been a cereal lover (especially Grape Nuts) but since I stopped drinking dairy milk I’ve kind of stopped eating it. But finally soy milk is growing on me and I’m starting to eat cereal again. It’s such a good way to get fiber and complex carbs!

I usually combine at least 3 or 4 cereals into a bowl at a time. I love Kashi Go Lean Crunch Honey Almond Flax (longest name ever), Kashi Autumn Wheat, Annies Honey Bunnies, and PB Puffins…usually its the two kashis and then some other more “fun” cereals mixed in! :) Mmmmmm!
That MyWayCereal sounds awesome!!!

I don’t eat cold cereals often either, because they tend to be too sweet for me :) But I have my mixgranola and like it, especially with a lot of chia, hemp seeds!

Wine reviews would be so helpful!

Im in love with kashi go lean, peanut butter puffins, and kashi go lean crunch!

I LOVE wine!! What a great and creative feature!

Cereal combos soo depend on what kind of “crunch factor” I’m going for, but current favorites include (but are not limited to) Cinnamon or Original puffins, Kashi H2H, and regular cheerios!

I definitely agree that stovetop oats at home are the way to go :)

Great new feature! I’m always looking for new wines to try.

When I eat cold cereal, it’s almost always a combination of 2, 3, 4… ok, a lot of different varieties. Some of my favorites: Nature’s Path Peanut Butter Granola, Nature’s Path Pumpkin Granola, Barbara’s PB Puffins, Kashi Heart 2 Heart, Kashi GoLean Crunch!, Kashi Honey Sunshine… the list goes on ;)

I have a serious cereal problem! I honestly love so many and I am not sure I’ve ever met a cereal I didn’t like! But one I would like to mention is Quaker Oatmeal Sqauares. Oh my god I love them.

Hoooray for wine reviews!!! I am not a wine buff either but I enjoy what I enjoy without worrying about following all of the wine rules :)

My favorite cereal is Archer’s Farm Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti. Dangerous stuff, for sure.

I’m a little bit of a cereal addict. Definitely like to combine them. Classic combo for me is Quaker Oatmeal Squares with Kashi Heart to Heart. Also loving right now, Kashi GoLean, Nature’s Path Optimum Slim, Nature’s Path Pumpkin Raisin Crunch

MMM that cereal sounds delicious!!! I LOVE Kashi Go Lean crunch or any kind of granola the most. I do definitely have a problem with portion control, though!

Your new Wine feature sounds awesome! I tend to stick to wines I know, so it would be nice to get some new ideas!

Choco-macadamias!? I approve!

Although I love my kashi cereals, cheerios will always have the #1 spot in my heart. I loved them as a kid, especially with strawberries. We weren’t allowed to have the sugary cereals and at the time it sucked, but now I’m glad my parents didn’t pump me full of sugar first thing in the morning.

I am checking out the wine review page immediately after this! Great idea!

I absolutely LOVE cereal. I don’t know what I’d do without it. I have 132 favorites (probably), but I’ll leave you with a few: Kashi Go Lean Crunch (either flavor), Kashi Honey Sunshine, Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch, Puffins (if I could afford them), Cap’n Crunch (when I’m feeling naughty). There are too many good ones! If I could be a cereal conoissuer I’d be more than happy.

Holla to cookie Friday!!!

How fun to design your own cereal! I pretty much do anyway–I usually have a bowl mix of Fiber One, Whole Wheat Kamut Puffs, Cheerios, and Rice Chex. And of course a dash of cinnamon!!!

I love wine reviews! (Of course, since my blog is partly devoted to wine reviews as well.) I have the same philosophy, I like to try them, and most wines I buy are $10 or less per bottle. Can’t wait to see what else you find.

Hempoppy? Your mix sounds so good I’d probably get the exact same one!

Okay so I was staring at freshly baked cookies in the cafe at my work and remembered that it was CNC Cookie Day so I got one! Best day ever! Favorite cereal? Puffins! I can’t have them in the house!

My fave healthy cereals are cheerios and puffins. I also looooove frosted flakes, lucky charms, and rice krispies. I don’t eat the less healthy ones very often because they aren’t filling and have a lot of sugar (well, the first two anyway) but I really, really love them as a treat rather than as breakfast.

Hey Tina, I was wondering how you like the addition of Wheat Bran to your oats? I bought a container and I’m not sure how or when to add it to my Oat Bran while cooking or how it will come out. (?) Love the new Wine Review by the way!!!

Amanda May 1, 2009 at 6:10 pm

I always have to have two or three cereals combined. My favorite winning combo is definitely Kashi Honey Sunshine, kamut puffs, and bran flakes. Sounds strange, but it hits the spot!

Reply

sirenjess May 1, 2009 at 6:34 pm

I like to combine cereals too. My favorite cereals are Kashi Heart to heart, honey sunshine, and Vive. Tina did you get a cookie today?

Couldn’t agree more–there’s nothing like enjoying stovetop oats at home. This morning marked my first bowl of stovetop oats since being home for the summer…love it!
Fave cereal is Kashi GoLean, but I especially like it mixed with Puffins and TJ’s High Fiber Cereal.
