Happy FRIDAY!
We have another contender for our Top 10 contest!
Isn’t this pug adorable? Mal said the pug looks like he is in his “awkward teenage years,” but I think he’s cute! Now I need to vote a pug off the fridge to make room for this guy. Let me tell you, it’s going to be a tough decision!
Breakfast
Not surprisingly, I didn’t wake up starving like I usually do. I ate a huge dinner last night with lots of satisfying protein (and sugar!
), which kept my hunger at bay until the morning.
Instead of my ever-reliable oatmeal, I went with a lighter breakfast this morning: whole wheat toast with cashew butter + pumpkin seeds and Barney Butter + ground flaxseeds meal, grapes, and strawberries. This meal didn’t hold me over at all last Wednesday, but I am a different type of “hungry” this morning. Let’s hope this meal does the trick! (I took a “Skinny” Oatmeal Raisin Bar to go just in case I get hungry mid-morning like I did last time.)
With iced coffee with chocolate soy milk…
Review of PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook
I’ve been out of college for many years now, but PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook: 275 Easy, Cheap, and Delicious Recipes to Keep You Vegan at School has some great recipes for nights when you don’t have a lot of time to cook (or are not in the mood to cook!). Flipping through the recipes, I found a number of simple, healthy, and satisfying meals and snacks that don’t require expensive, hard-to-find ingredients or elaborate cooking equipment. (In fact, only some of the recipes require a microwave and/or blender.) In particurlar, the recipes for smoothies and desserts look delicious to me– hello, Fake Blondies!
The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about, but expected, was the recommendation to use fake cheese and meats for many of the recipes. For a vegan this make perfect sense, but for me, I’d rather substitute the real thing.
Bottom line: If you are in college and vegan, this is the cookbook to buy! If you’re not in college and not vegan, but just looking for an easier way to eat healthy and perhaps don’t know how, this cookbook gives you a ton of simple, fast, and healthy recipes.
Question of the Day
Do you have an iPhone? If you do, what do you think?

I love my iphone and am so glad I upgraded to it. I use the GPS all the time and its fairly accurate for the most part. The apps are pretty awesome too. However, the camera doesn’t have a flash, you can’t take video, and you can’t send text pictures. Also when you get text pictures you have to go to a website with a premade code to get to them. Those are my only complaints and I’ve had it for almost a year now.
I loved my iPhone, but the bill was outrageous. I could afford it, but why would I wanna pay [at the LEAST] $110 a month for the same thing that I can get with another phone for $60. That’s just dumb to me, so I got over my toy-envy and sold mine.
