Busy Bee

May 9, 2009

Gah! Where has this day gone!?! 8-O I’ve been up since 7:00 and running around non-stop ever since! Mal and I are hosting a wine tasting tonight, so we spent much of morning scouring our apartment from top to bottom. (We let it get pretty messy this week! ) We still have quite a bit to do before our guests arrive in a few hours, so let’s whiz through my eats for the day!

I started my morning with a glass of water, grapes, and blogging. I wrote some “catch-up” posts before my hubby got out of bed.

After about an hour, I finally got hungry. I made myself a bowl of oats with wheat bran, ground flaxseed meal, pumpkin seeds, pecans, and Barney Butter. I also had a glass of iced coffee with chocolate soy milk and agave nectar.

Mid-morning, Mal made a run to Dunkin’ Donuts. He grabbed me an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. I practically chugged it down– I was so thirsty this morning!

Around noon, Mal and I headed to the Y for a workout. I fueled my workout with half of a whole wheat pita with pecan butter. At the Y, I used the elliptical for 30 minutes, biked for 20 minutes, and strength trained for another 20. My hip is still a mess, so I’ve been taking it easy. Meh.

After the gym, I threw together a quick salad with lots of veggies, canned tuna, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegar.

The healthy dose of protein on this salad was very satisfying!

For a sweet treat, I ate another half of pita with pecan butter and chocolate chips. Delish!

Ok, I’m off to get ready for our wine tasting! We still need to go grocery shopping! Happy Saturday!!!

I hope the wine tasting goes wonderfully! It sounds like it’ll be a blast! And at least having guests over forced you to clean the place up really thoroughly, right? Sort of a plus. ;)

did you use home made pecan butter? or if you bought it, which brand? i’m a bit aversive to peanuts so I was wondering :D

Sorry to hear about your hip :-( I’ve been battling IT band/hamstring pain for the past 4 months, so starting today I’m taking a month rest from running. It’s frustrating to take time off, but I’m trying to look at the big picture. I want to be active (not injured) for the rest of my life! Enjoy the wine tasting party – you and Mal are too cute :-)

Maybe it’s time to accept your body is not built for long-distance running. I have and guess what, the world doesn’t end.
