Waiting On You
Mal is STILL at the gym! He left almost 2 hours ago! Jeez! I’m sure he’s getting a great workout, but I’m antsy to shop! “Waiting on you, Mal!” (We jokingly say this to each other when we are trying to get the other one to hurry up!)
My 8 mile run was fantastic! It was my first outdoor run of the year and I got to use my new fancy Garmin Forerunner 305!
After my Nike + iPod died a couple of months ago, I decided to upgrade to this baby! I haven’t been able to use it until now because it only works where it can find satellites for the GPS (aka outside). It was fun using the Garmin today– I tracked my pace and distance practically non-stop for 8 miles! It was so cool! I barely know how to use this thing and I know it has a million of options, so I’m looking forward to reading the manuel and figuring it out all. And a big THANKS to Meghann who recommended this model and answered my numerous questions about it– I didn’t even understand how the GPS worked at first! After my run, I did 20 minutes of Yoga for Runners to stretch my tight legs. It felt so nice!
My stats:
- Distance: 8 miles
- Time: 1:15:26
- Average pace: 9:25/mile
- Calories: 828
Lunch
To refuel, I made a yogurt-fruit smoothie with a 6 ounce container of Stonyfield French vanilla yogurt, 1 cup of frozen berries, 1 cup of soy milk, and ice. Mmmmmm! What a treat after a long run!
While enjoying my smoothie, I baked a batch of specially-requested Oatmeal Raisin Bars. (They’re for my friends who are throwing the housewarming party later today.) I love having our little cart in our kitchen now. It’s perfect for consulting recipes online.
Time to go! Banana Republic here I come!

I LOVE my Forerunner! I have the exact same one and it has been awesome! I love the HRM capabilities and it’s accuracy amazes me. I have tried so many new running routes since getting one because I don’t have to worry about not knowing my mileage. Good choice

Fabulous smoothie!
How did your Nike+iPod work? I live off of my iPod Touch. I’m wondering how useful the Nike app would work. Is it only beneficial for running (as opposed to using a stationary bike or elliptical)?

I looove my Garmin..who I call Garmey for short!

Those Garmins are popping up everywhere! What a cool tool! I have my “long run” tomorrow. What program do you use? I use Runner’s World.

Yum! That is my kind of smoothie! Perhaps I am bit biased, given my smoothie obsession…

I wish I could afford a Garmin Forerunner 305, they’re soo expensive here. I found a cheaper and much simpler one from Polar that measures heart rate, time and calories burned but not distance. It’s still expensive but I’m considering it. Holy wow, over 800 kcal on your run!

I love Garmin. I have a 405 and I’m so PO that they came out with a new model. Ugh, I’m going to have to buy it.

Oh good!! I am so glad you love the Garmin! Just wait, you will become obsessed!
