More Nut Butter Love

April 26, 2009

Good morning! I feel very well-rested (and even energized!) after 10+ hours of sleep last night. I guess I really needed it!

After puttering around the apartment for awhile, my morning hunger finally set in. Surprisingly, I wasn’t in the mood for oats. Instead, I craved nut butter. This morning’s breakfast included pecan butter spread on whole wheat toast with golden raisins and flaxseeds

Breakfast also included a perfectly-ripe kiwi and three medjool dates.

All together with iced coffee…

Artisana: The Art of Healthy Food

My nut butter of choice this morning was Artisana Organic Raw Pecan Butter, which was a-mazing! I’ve never tried a pecan nut butter before, so I’m glad that this one was my first! It definitely set the bar high for other pecan butters!

The Artisana pecan butter has a rich and intense flavor of freshly puréed pecans– almost like they had been ground just moments before my first taste. The texture is mostly smooth, but with hearty, little grits of pecan throughout.

The only ingredients listed in the pecan butter were Organic Raw Pecans and Organic Raw Cashews. Don’t ya love that?! And notably absent from all of the Artisana nut butters: pesticides, artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, stabilizers, added oils, GMO’s. This is some good stuff, people! ;-)

And if a full jar of pecan butter wasn’t enough, the nice people at Artisana sent me a sample-size jar of each of their products:

Amazon Bliss
Artisana Organic Raw Almond Butter
Artisana Organic Raw Black Sesame Tahini
Artisana Organic Raw Cashew Butter
Artisana Organic Raw Coconut Butter
Artisana Organic Raw Macadamia Cashew Butter
Artisana Organic Raw Pecan Butter
Artisana Organic Raw Tahini
Artisana Organic Raw Walnut Butter
Cacao Bliss
Exta-Virgin Coconut Oil – Never Heated
Goji Bliss

These mini jars reminded me of a paint set! :-D

Holy nut butters! Also included with the sample-sized nut butters:

Cacao Bliss
Exta-Virgin Coconut Oil
Goji Bliss

Another cool thing about Artisana’s products is that they are made using a special low heat process that preserves the life-essential fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, and enzymes of the ingredients, which keeps the “raw” factor. Pretty neat, right?

I’m psyched to try all of these different spreads! You guys will be hearing lots more about these products! Thanks, Artisana!

Way to eat what you crave!!!

The Artisana’s products look great. I think that’s great that they are made using such a low heat…. keeps that “raw” factor!

Love your blog, Tina. It has inspired me to think about starting my own. I have tried the Artisana cashew and its yummy. If you’ve never tried Sunbutter (sunflower seed butter), it’s actually my favorite and really delicious. I love Barney Butter but I actually like Sunbutter more (the crunchy one with the seeds, but the smooth is good too). Also, love your chocolate soymilk idea in iced coffee. I’ve been enjoying that for two weeks now. Yum!

Your breakfast looks amazing and so do all the nut butter samples. I honestly prefer raw nut butters over any with added things. Nut butters should be just about ground up yummie nuts, I think :)

Tina I love your blog and was wondering if you could help me out with something. My fiance and I recently started a blog and actually received our first package of samples this week!! But, I was wondering if an expert like you could give some tips to someoen just starting out regarding building readership, getting companies to donate samples, etc.

How’d your long run go yesterday?

Have a great afternoon!! :)
