Happy Hour Kicked My Butt

April 3, 2009

Happy Hour was a BLAST last night!!! Buuttt, I am no longer 22 and I can no longer drink three mixed drinks in one evening. I should have taken my own advice to make it a healthy Happy Hour, but I was having so much fun chatting away with friends, I didn’t realize how easily my drinks were going down!

I don’t feel that bad this morning, but I woke up groggy, thirsty, and really, really, really wanting it to be Saturday morning instead of Friday. I had a great time last night with friends that I hadn’t seen it awhile, so it was totally worth it. Plus, we talked about running for a good part of the night, and I may have found some running buddies to train and run some races with in the coming months! :-D

P.S. I had no idea how much I like vodka-crans with lime! I still can’t believe that I drank 3 last night… and also a beer with my coworkers at a pre-Happy Hour gathering. Ugh. What is wrong with me?! Needless to say, tonight will be low-key!

There was a lot of “girl talk” last night!

Breakfast

After a night of drinking, I was surprised how much I wanted a big bowl of oats for breakfast this morning. I guess I wanted something to settle my stomach, but I usually crave a greasy breakfast sandwich or a diner meal! I’m glad that I wanted the healthy option this morning! ;-)

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup dry oats
  • 1/3 cup wheatberries
  • 2/3 cup soy milk
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • Raisins
  • Pecans
  • 2 scoops of Teddie peanut butter

I am consistently surprised at how low my tolerance for alcohol has become since college – but hey, less $ for drinks works for me!

Fun question. I never leave without greek yogurt, bananas, and baby romaine/spinach.

That happens to me too. I can’t drink during the week at all anymore (I’m 30). I used to be able to party with the best of them. Oh well.

I’d say hummus, bananas and some sort of frozen veggies.

Bananas, Milk (sometime 2% sometimes skim depending what I’m out of.. they deplete at different rates), and whatever green vegetables are on sale!
