Happy Hour Kicked My Butt

April 3, 2009

Happy Hour was a BLAST last night!!! Buuttt, I am no longer 22 and I can no longer drink three mixed drinks in one evening. I should have taken my own advice to make it a healthy Happy Hour, but I was having so much fun chatting away with friends, I didn’t realize how easily my drinks were going down!

I don’t feel that bad this morning, but I woke up groggy, thirsty, and really, really, really wanting it to be Saturday morning instead of Friday. I had a great time last night with friends that I hadn’t seen it awhile, so it was totally worth it. Plus, we talked about running for a good part of the night, and I may have found some running buddies to train and run some races with in the coming months! :-D

P.S. I had no idea how much I like vodka-crans with lime! I still can’t believe that I drank 3 last night… and also a beer with my coworkers at a pre-Happy Hour gathering. Ugh. What is wrong with me?! Needless to say, tonight will be low-key!

There was a lot of “girl talk” last night!

Breakfast

After a night of drinking, I was surprised how much I wanted a big bowl of oats for breakfast this morning. I guess I wanted something to settle my stomach, but I usually crave a greasy breakfast sandwich or a diner meal! I’m glad that I wanted the healthy option this morning! ;-)

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup dry oats
  • 1/3 cup wheatberries
  • 2/3 cup soy milk
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • Raisins
  • Pecans
  • 2 scoops of Teddie peanut butter

Hmm, my 3 grocery store staples are: yogurt, apples, and cookies (hehe). Your iced coffee looks really good!

I am going out with my husband’s siblings tonight in NYC (both are younger)- I am afraid especially b/c it’s Friday night- I get so tired on Friday nights after the work week- I am getting so old!
My three things would be: bananas, arugula, some kind of cheese

If it makes you feel better, most of the time I’m a one drink wonder and I am 21 and Irish! I’m such a disappointment to my drunk irish heritage lol ; )
I can’t leave the store without bananas, apples and spinach, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, or egg whites depending on which one I’m out of. They’re all staples for me!

Tina- I’m SO jealous of your Teddy PB! It’s one of the things I miss most now that I live out west and not in New England! My 3 grocery must haves… in season fruit, spinach and coffee!

Yeah I can’t really hang either. I’m going to Happy Hour tonight and I told myself that I could do 3 vodka/sodas but no more. And hopefully it’s only two. It’s hard though when it’s just you and one other person…they notice if you don’t drink!

Hmm…tough question…but I’d have to say bananas, onions (we always seem to need ‘em), and something from the bulk bins (nuts, dried fruit…or ok, candy!)

The three things I never leave the grocery without are organic skim milk, apples & a couple heads of lettuce to chop up for a salad.

I’m 21 and since attempting to live a healthier lifestyle, it’s SO HARD to drink like I used to and like my college roommates still do!

I never leave without yogurt, apples and frozen veggies.
