Yowsahs!

March 16, 2009

Yowsahs!!! Monday was busy! The work day came fast and furious, and it was over before I knew it! I sort of like crazy days like this because it totally flies by! It’s already Tuesday in my book!

I’m happy to be home now, and I’m looking forward to Basic Training later tonight. Hopefully, it will be more challenging this time!

Dinner

Tonight’s meal was a quickie dinner: elbow pasta with marinara sauce and TJ’s turkey meatballs

On the side, I had a salad with balsamic vinegar.

For dessert, I munched on a big ol’ Pumpkin Oatmeal Raisin Bar with a smear of peanut butter on top. Sorry no photo– all you need to know is that it was WICKED good! ;-)

Lunch

After my “New Employee Orientation,” I was starving, but I didn’t have much time for lunch, so I grabbed a quick Portobello Mushroom Piadini from Starbucks.

The pre-prepared Piadini crust was filled with chunks of roasted portobella mushrooms, spinach, feta, ricotta, and eggs. Overall, it was a good lunch option (quick, easy, mostly nutritious), but the Piadini didn’t have a ton of flavor to it at all. Basically, nothing really stood out about it. I’m not sure I would order it again.

My afternoon snack was a Superfood Odwalla bar, which I liked a lot! This bar is easily my favorite Odwalla flavor!

Mid-Morning Snacks

During my Orientation this morning, I enjoyed a couple of cups of coffee with milk.

I also had a small plate with fresh fruit and a raisin bran muffin. There is nothing exciting to report about these mid-morning snacks, but for some reason, they made me more hungry for lunch!

Basic Training time! See ya tomorrow!

I’m so glad you gave a review on the starbucks sandwich. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while now, but I think I’ll just hold off and stick to my regular coffee routines there instead. :D

I love raisin bran muffins…I can almost pretend they’re healthy (well, they are better than a chocolate-chip muffin that’s basically cake, I suppose).

That Starbucks thingy looks good and I literally don’t like any of the ingredients in it! (well, ricotta is ok…in cannoli!) Makes sense that you weren’t wowed by it though; I find foods at chains like that are never as good as you hope they’ll be.

Is it weird that the thing that excited me the most on this post was the frigid-looking cup of ice water?? I’ve never had a glass that I didn’t like ;)

That piadini looks good. Too bad it was low on flavor. :(

That’s disappointing about the piadini because it looked really good!
Have fun at basic training!

That Portobello Mushroom Piadini looked delicious. I love Odwalla bars too! The Superfood and the SuperProtein and my favorites. Although, I do have a weakness for the BananaNut and the Chocowalla flavors too! :)

wow, that piadini looks amazing! I’ll have to try that, or try to make my own recipe? haha. Do they have the calorie count on that too? Love those easy dinners :) My computer is fixed and I’m back to blogging, yea!

I had the same Monday. I was running around like crazy. I’m sorry to hear that the piadini didn’t live up to your expectations. I had one a couple of months ago and was actually impressed by the taste – for something that came out of the Starbucks case.

So THAT’S what a piadini is…you learn something new every day…

I kinda fell out of the yoga this weekend too. I tried to do some on Saturday but I was under the weather and didn’t have the energy! I just did 20 minutes of yoga for runners and it felt great!

Tina, you use to work at Starbucks right? Can a misto be ordered cold?

your pumpkin bars look amazing, tina!!!

Reply

Tina March 17, 2009 at 8:33 am

@sirenjess: Technically, yes! It would be an iced coffee with a lot of milk: half coffee, half milk with ice.

too bad starbucks missed the boat on that piadini — it had such flavor potential!
