Yoga Challenge: Days 7 & 8
Tina
I didn’t manage to fit in any yoga yesterday, so I doubled-up today with a session of Core Yoga and Detox Yoga (each 20 minutes). Again, the Core Yoga session kicked my butt, but I know all the core work is worth it, especially since I have been experiencing lower back pain lately.
The Detox Yoga was totally my type of yoga- very straightforward, easy to follow, and lots of deep stretches. I especially liked a spine-twisting, half pidgon pose that was part of the session. It felt soooo good on my hips and upper back! And, to be honest, a week ago, I definitely could not have done a pose like it. I was sort of proud of myself this afternoon!

Yoga went suuuper well, as always
Victoria
Yoga was good, although today’s sun salutations flow really kicked my butt!

yoga = going good! I didn’t do an “actual” download the past two days since it seems my mp3 player ate them? But I have been doing my routine from the class and doing yoga poses/stretches on my own. I’m going to try to figure out what happened to my downloads tomorrow at work. My internet is too slow at home.

I did the detox yoga yesterday (30 minutes) and really enjoyed it…but couldn’t do the half moons! I have yet to practice today but may not since I did pilates earlier…lunar flow would probably help me go to sleep though!
coco
yesterday I had 60 min core yoga and 30 min butt yoga! You guys really have to try that butt session….it really kicks your butt!
And today i had 90 min power vinyasa flow in my yoga studio. I really enjoyed all of them! sometimes, I feel I can do yoga forever!
Shelby
I’ve been doing yoga everyday and I feel so good! My body is more flexible, I feel more confident, and I really love doing it. I’m so glad you came up with this challenge!
Ronda
I did an old Ali McGraw Yoga tape that I have today. I really like it. Unlike so many of the tapes with celebrities she hands the actual yoga over to an expert. I realized when going down to the floor for cobra that my arms where actually letting me lower myself s-l-o-w-l-y, normally I am a bit floppy. Too cool!

I am glad that your yoga challenge is going well! The banana chocolate chip bread looks divine!
Amanda
where were the yoga workouts from? Yoga download? I think I am going back to that tomorrow.. so far I have tried a new person every day, from all kinds of places. So much fun!

Yesterday my husband and I did core yoga #1-it was hard! But we both made it through it. I want to try to do it once or twice a week now. Tonight’s yoga (Sunday) was a real struggle-I had already worked out at the gym and just did not feel like doing it. I made it through about 18 min though and am ready to sleep soundly

I did core yoga, the same one as you, and it kicked my butt today! I don’t know why but it seemed harder than last time. A good kind of hard though.

For Day 7′s Yoga, I started with 70min of Sadie Nardini’s Hard-CORE Detox Flow and Yoga cardio workout. My heart rate was really high today for some reason. It felt nice to sweat though
Day 8 of Yoga Challenge started with 20min of Sadie Nardini’s Fire Detox Flow, then followed by 20min Core Yoga. I ended the day with peaceful meditation as always!

So far I’ve squeezed in yoga every day, but I’m not sure about today!! I want to try to do a Moon Salutation or something, but traveling is a really easy way to get in the way of yoga. Anyone have any tips about that?

Ahh to day I didn’t do too good I did a 20 min gental yoga. I think my body is quite tired from my daily exercise and adding in yoga this week plus the weather is cold today I HATE THE COLD.
Tasha
Your blog makes me hungry for food and yoga at the same time.
Today was the second day in a row that I did yoga. Normally I do it every other day, but my body was craving it again today. Can’t say no to that!

I didn’t get a chance to do yoga yesterday either and did a longer session today to make up for it.

i have been so surprised at my progress in just one week! not only am i starting to get to know the names of poses (i had no clue what they were before), but i’m also definitely gaining upper body strength from the different classes i’m taking (detox is super tough but i love it). when i first started the plank pose was a killer and i had a hard time holding it for very long, i’m not a pro at it yet but i can at least hold it for a while!

I had an intense fencing competition today so i was so wiped when i got home. I feel so much better after doing 45 minutes of Gentle Hatha 2-ahhhhh….
Sarah
I didn’t do yoga yesterday either! 9 hrs of work on my weekend kinda killed it for me. Today however I did 20 min of Gentle Hatha Yoga #2 again. I really enjoy the slower gentler sessions because they really help me find my inner peace. The unfortunate part of that is that I don’t think it does much for my outer bodily strength. Maybe I need to find a different or longer session of it.

i wasn’t able to do yoga yesterday either, as by the time i got home i had a killer headache that left me couch-bound. Today I did some yummy yoga (off of polly’s site), core and runners yoga!
Katie
Day 8 of yoga was sporadic for me………I squeezed in two seperate sessions to total 20 minutes. I just did the poses from the Gentle Hatha yoga. Tomorrow I am planning to move onto GH#2….I am such a creature of habit!
Leah
I didn’t get enough (or any) practice in this weekend which i’m a bit disappointed about but here’s to a new week!!

This weekend’s yoga sessions were gentle. I’ve been extremely sore from taking on challenging yoga sessions that I think were way too advanced for me. I am rockin’ Rodney Yee’s 1AMYoGA on Exercise TV On Demand. I think it’s actually the perfect routine for a good stretch after a hard run.

On Saturday I did 30 min lunch time flow. It was nice to do after a 10 mile run. Yesterday I did nothing. I had to recover from too many martinis and mojitos from Saturday night.
Mari
I am absolutely loving this Yoga challenge! on Friday night I did 45 minutes of Inhale yoga, Saturday I did 20 of Namaste Yoga and Sunday I had my yoga class!
Doing all this yoga is really paying off; my teacher mentioned that my poses are really improving and she started to challenge me even more =)
Namate…
Janet
I really like the yoga challenge, too! I did Yoga Download’s free Yoga for Runners the other day after a 7 mile run and wasn’t a big fan. I’m not sure if I was just tired, or if it just wasn’t my style. I did an On Demand 47 minute yoga yesterday and it was ok – pretty challenging and I was really confused by the girl’s hair.
Looking forward to my full-length classes in the gym this week!

Tina, I am so behind in posting about my yoga. Sorry! I took a 2 hour yoga class on Saturday. Wow, talk about intense. I’d never done anything longer than 90 minutes. I was able to hold Side Crow, and we practiced headstand. Today’s (Monday) 60 minute class seem to fly by after Saturday’s long one. My balance and strength continue to improve every day. Half Moon felt really good today, and I ALWAYS struggle with that one.

I’m really enjoying the yoga challenge!
I was unable to practice on Saturday as I did 3 Weight Watchers meetings, 2 performances and then struck the set and moved everything out of the theatre. It was a long day! Last night I got back into the groove with the 20 minute lunar flow. It’s really become a favourite of mine and part of my bedtime routine.
There’s a yoga and pilates show happening in Toronto at the beginning of April and this challenge has inspired me to check it out!! I’m trying to see what classes will interest me and fit into my schedule.

I love those spin twists too in the detox yoga!
I tried the Hip Opening Flow over the weekend and it made my stiff hips feel much better!

On Saturday I began the challenge, a little late. But I began with the power yoga 20 min flow- and was challenged in the first 5 minutes with an advanced upper body strength pose. I enjoyed it. Sunday I luxuriated in the 20 min morning flow- I will definitely purchase the longer one- such a good feeling from it. This morning I enjoyed the Heart Opening Flow 20 min. A great one if you spend your day hunched over the computer. Really loving this challenge.

Day 7 – I woke up early Saturday morning and did 20 minutes of Gentle Hatha Yoga from yoga download. It was a great way to start my day. I was sore from the core vinyasa yoga on Friday so the initial stretches were pretty tight. I would have liked to have gone longer but I had to get going with my day.
Day 8- I really spent most of the day being lazy. It wasn’t a good day and when I thought I wouldn’t get any yoga in I pulled myself off the couch and did 20 minutes of the Gentle Hatha again and felt so great I did about 10 minutes of the Detox Yoga. It was great to pull on my PJ’s and get a 30 minute yoga session in regardless of how lazy I was feeling.

I haven’t been good about reporting my progress here, but I haven’t missed a day yet! I’m having fun trying some of my different dvds, it keeps it interesting so I don’t get bored.

I’m glad I’m not the only one finding the arm workouts pretty serious!

I’ve been doing the Less Is More Yoga workout on ExerciseTV. I love it bc it really tones your abs!

Playing catch up on my yoga posts!! So Saturday, March 7th, my fiance and I went for a nice run and then I actually convinced him to do yoga with me afterwards as a means to stretch (he’s SO NOT flexible)…we did 30min of Yoga for Runners! It was great!! I think it was definitnely too advanced for him but he tried hard
It was definintely a lot of work after a run.
