Friday nights at home are the BEST, especially when they include delicious food and drink!
I’m becoming such a foodie homebody in my old age!
My Friday night, started with a special growler of Harpoon’s 100 Barrel Series Catamount Maple Wheat. I had my first taste of this delectable brew a couple of weeks ago, and I have been OBSESSED with it ever since! Below are a couple of descriptions about the beer.
Harpoon description:
This full, smooth wheat ale is warming and delicious. It’s mildly hopped to let the distinct flavor and aroma of real VT maple syrup take the lead. The maple sweetness and body that blankets this velvety amber beer showcases one of New Englands most beloved traditions. Brewed with wheat malt, pale malt and caramel malt. Hopped with Willamette.
The pure maple syrup used in this beer came from two syrup makers in the Green Mountain State. The Baker Family in East Dummerston has been boiling maple sugar since the 1950s. Dave Gavett also provided syrup from his Scrag Mountain Sugar House in Waitsfield. John’s recipe, along with top quality syrup from these two Vermont maple sugar operations, resulted in a crisp wheat ale that is warming and delicious. It is mildly hopped to profile the distinct aroma and flavor of real Vermont Maple Syrup.
Mal’s description: “The greatest beer of all time!”
Of course, we used our UVM Catamount pint glasses to drink the Catamount Maple Wheat!
I drank 1.5 pints this evening.
I had some help from Monet pouring the beers.
Check out Gato on the floor trying to get into the action! Cats are so fun!
Mal and I discussed making dinner at home tonight, but neither of us wanted to cook. (Man, we’re lazy on Fridays!) Mal was in the mood for fast food and I was in the mood for cheese, so we decided to order take-out Buffalo Chicken Nachos from The Fours. This batch of nachos was good, but nothing like the Buffalo Chicken Nachos that you get when you dine at the actual restaurant. Of course, I dominated the cheesy nachos, but lesson learned: go to The Fours for Buffalo Chicken Nachos; no take-out.
I have an insane Saturday planned for tomorrow! Thankfully, it’s all FUN stuff, but I am going to be running around like a crazy person trying to do it all! What’s up for the weekend, bloggies?

Tina, I’m officially mad at you… I was ALL excited for my sushi dinner, then you had to go post a picture of amazing-looking buffalo chicken nachos and TOTALLY change my mind!!! (not really mad, just really hungry!)
I updated my recipes on my site, I’d love it if you’d visit and let me know what you think! Thanks!
OMG I WANT THAT BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks like something I’d go nuts for. I gotta get up to Boston and do a Harpoon tour!!
Aww cute Gato
Have fun tonight!!
Have a fabulous night!!!
What a great evening!
I am in Jacksonville, Fl for the weekend celebrating my nephew’s birthday!
that beer sounds amazing! I love the growler, too.
Ah…my day sounds like yours tomorrow
I have too much to do and not enough time! All fun stuff, but I’ll be running around like crazy, too.
I am loving the beer TINA!
Those nachos still look pretty good to me! Breakfast with a friend tomorrow, spending some time with my boyfriend, the gym, church, grocery shopping… the usual stuff for me this weekend.
I added you to my blogroll, hope that’s okay!
Cute kitties! Those nachos look soooo good.
Love the kitties helping you out. My parents have one that thinks it is a chef. He always has to come and sniff each ingredient. He even likes cheese.
Haha I love Mal’s short ‘n sweet description! It sounds amazing and I love to bottle! Hope you have a great Saturday
That should say I love THE bottle, not to!
My bf and I got a growler tonight too – but of Sierra Nevada Spring Brew. Those growlers sure get empty quickly, don’t they?
Have a great night!
i actually went to the Harpoon tasting of the 100 barrel catamount maple wheat last night with a friend and loved it..i just bought a little bottle though no growler for me. so good!
Mmm Buffalo Chicken Nachos! Now I really want some nachos.
Enjoy the busy Saturday! I love when my weekends are packed with things to do.
Kitties & nachos sounds like a good Friday night to me
I would leave out the beer though.
No real plans for the weekend, mostly getting random stuff done around the house I think.
Where did you find that beer?! Do you have to go to the brewery? I want some, just for the fun jug alone.
My weekend plans include baking cookies for the BF (success), trying to re-create magic middles (failure), and tomorrow night we’re going to a fundraiser at the Varsity Club for a friends cousin who is running the marathon. Should be a good time!
That beer sounds like my kind of brew… I’ll have to keep my eyes out for it. Tomorrow we might be going to the Wine Gallery in Brookline for their free wine tasting (3-6 pm I think).
I just came from the Publick house with my boyfriend and ordered those amazing scallops from your previous post! Tonight I’m going to finish some business cases and then tomorrow I have a 10 AM meeting, going to the Harpoon Beer Fest at 2 PM, and then maybe some shopping in the city.
Mmmm…. nachos! We are supposed to have a warm weekend and I’m hoping to dust off my bike and go for a ride. I’m sick of being cooped up in the gym, but I’m a cold weather wimp!
aww, ktties!
i can see the pug calendar in the background; you NEED a pug, girl!
Mmmm, I love nachos!
Wow those nachos look awesome! I love buffalo anything.
love it! I agree with Megan, adorable kitty, pugs rock.
your kitties are so cute! I have two cats and they’re soOo much fun. There’s never a dull moment with them. My cat, Miss Dottie, even plays catch with paper balls. She even brings the paper ball back, but only after she’s abused for a bit around the apt. haha.
Yoga update:
Lately I have been doing all sorts of different styles of yoga. I can’t believe the week is almost over already! the routines I choose are from Patricia Walden, Rodney Yee, Sadie Nardini and other trainers from Exercise TV On Demand. I am truely amazed of the fact that there’s soOo many varieties of yoga out there. And I’m definitely glad that I took on this challenge. I not only see slight changes in my arms (triceps), but I feel a lot better inside. Thanks so much for coming up with this challenge Tina!
@Julie: Yep, it’s from the brewery, but it was SO worth the trip!
Nachos and beer? Awesome Friday! We had pizza and beer.
Um, those nachos look amazing. I’m gonna have to try my hand at making some buffalo nachos.
Hi Tina!
I was wondering if there were any retailers of the Harpoon’s 100 Barrel Series Catamount Maple Wheat…. it looks amazing. I’m always on the search for great beer. Thank you for all of your great posts… I read them daily
@Emily: We went to the brewery for our growler. I’m sure if you call Harpoon, they will be able to tell you where to buy it.
