Guys, I ran 7 miles this morning!!! I feel so accomplished! What a great feeling!
Unfortunately, however, I had to do my “long run” on the dreadmill this morning. I know that I said I would never do a long run on a treadmill again, but the weather outside was frightful this morning– dark, rainy, windy, and cold! Yuck! The thought of running 7 miles outside was not at all appealing!
Overall, my 7 mile treadmill run was pretty good. Luckily, I was able to watch TV, so I didn’t get that bored. And the best part about my run was doing it pain-free! I can’t remember a time that I’ve run more than 6 miles without my hips hurting me– during and after the run. I honestly think all of this yoga I’ve been doing lately has helped keep my joints and muscles strong and limber. My goal is to train for the half marathon without getting injured, so let’s hope this continues!
Fruit, Nuts & Seeds
We are all out of fresh fruit, so I opted for a healthy combination of add-ins to my morning bowl of oats: dried fruit, nuts, and seeds.
In the mix:
- 1/2 cup dry oats
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
- Raisins
- Walnuts
- Pumpkin seeds
- 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter
Oats with iced coffee and morning reading material…
I recently subscribed to Body + Soul magazine after reading a couple of issues at the gym, and I have to say, I LOVE this magazine! Its topics include whole health, green living, eating well, and fitness. It’s all my favorite topics in one magazine! Imagine if it had PUGS in it too!?
Speaking of those special little creatures, check out today’s Pug of the Day! So cute! I love the curly tail!

My super power would be that I could tranport myself! Body & Soul looks interesting I’m definitely going to check it out.
My company sent out an official email about Earth Hour!
My super power would be to go invisible
BEYOND fabulous run, breakfast, calendar, BODY + SOUL magazine (love it)…
I’d want to have the ability to become invisible – that’d be fun!
Selectively mind read
CONGRATS on 7 miles! that’s def a confidence boost and a feel good finish. you’ll def be able to train for the 1/2 marathon pain free if you can run 7 miles with no problem. just bump it up every week (go slow if that’s more comfortable– add .5 miles each week or 1 mile if you want)= i also super recommend step-back weeks which are mostly found in marathon training schedules but i think help hold my mental sanity together– if i work REALLY hard for two weeks, take an easy week for sure!
LOOOOOVE body and soul magazine. i can get copies at the watertown library, how awesome is that! (except i can’t cut them up, hah).
Congrats on your run. I am getting ready to do my workout. Elliptical, weights, abs today! Yahoo!
7 miles?! That is awesome! I would feel so accomplished!
super power would definitely be to be anywhere in the world just by closing my eyes. i would spend weekends in italy, afternoons in rhode island (after my move) and visit a new place each month.
7 miles?! Sigh, maybe someday. I’m impressed when I can just jog 1.5/2 miles. Of course this is only my second week. LOL
I’ve never actually picked that magazine up before. I’ll have to check it out!!
Super power? The ability to change the world and make it a happier & healthier place!!
Have a great day!!
lucky you. yoga has made my arms more toned but has definitely NOT helped ease the pain in my knees/hip when I run more than 5 miles.
Good question! I would love to read minds or eat whatever I want without gaining weight!
Wow. 7 miles on the treadmill is super impressive to me. Thanks for the mag info.
Congrats on your 7-miler! And on the treadmill too.
Congrats on your run! A superpower? Easy–I’d be able to fly.
great job on your run!
My super power would be teleportation. A lot of the people I care about the most (family, bf) live far away from me and I would love to be able to see them instantly without having to worry about the cost of travel or the time it would take to travel.
Reading minds… and predicting the future
I’d love to be able to teleport… or be invisible… or both!
Great oats
Don’t worry, you’re not alone! I have to run 7 miles on Sunday for my training and it’s supposed to be raining all day, which means I’ll probably end up on the treadmill…which I’m really not looking forward to!
Congratulations on your long run! That’s such a nice feeling. I’m hoping the weather will turn nice so I can run outside, but it’s only 23 degrees right now and I left my gloves in New York!
Congrats on the long run! I bet it felt great! I just started running and I feel awesome after running for 30 minutes without stopping to walk
Wooo congrats on the run!
My super power would be flying or teleportation. I want to be able to travel anywhere!
Great run! I bet it is the yoga that is making a difference
I love all the hip-opening stretches.
I think my super power would be the ability to fly. It’s not original but c’mon, how COOL would it be?!
I’m definitely participating in Earth Hour. I think it’s such a great idea – everyone can and should do it!
I totally agree about yoga helping with running. I notice a BIG difference when I run after not having done yoga for a few days or a week. It’s a runner’s best friend!
Congrats on your long run at the gym! That’s very impressive you were able to do 7 miles on a treadmill, I’ve only done one long run on a treadmill and I thought I was going to die from boredom! I’ve even ran in the rain, snow, etc., just to avoid the treadmill lol.
My super power would be teleportation and mind reading!
Way to go on the run!!
When I was little I realllly wished I could be another person for a day, just to see how they see the world. I think it’d still be pretty cool
So the pastor at my church is known for saying things that some might take as inappropriate but he miraculously gets away with it. A few Sundays ago he was talking about PowerHour and asking people to join in on it. Then he goes, “And in 9 months, our nursery will be packed!”
Hahahaha
My superpower would be to eat dessert without it going to my thighs. Just kidding. I would like to fly!
congrats on the 7 miles!!! i can’t believe you did that on the treadmill!
my superpower would be teleportation for sure!! imagine all the traveling you could do if you didn’t have to pay for plane tickets….
you go girl on the 7 miles! awesome! Not sure on the superpower — eat anything I want without any consequences whatsoever?
That is SO awesome!!! I’m jealous…7 miles seems terrifying to me still at this pt! WHen is your half-marathon! Also-did you eat your breakkie b/f or after you ran that??? I’m really struggling to figure out how much time I should wait b/w eating and running b/c I really don’t do well w/o a solid breakfast.
YAAY on the run! earth hour sounds really cool! and that magazine looks great!
Oh my gosh what a CUTE pug!! Way to go on the 7 miles!!
Way to go on seven miles! I’d do the aquaman thing & be able to breathe underwater & have super-swim powers to get to any continent I want.
@Kate: I ate half of a Sandwich Thin with almond butter before and oatmeal afterward.
Great job with the 7 mile run on the “dreadmill” (love the term)! Your oats look yummy.
Fun question of the day. I would absolutely choose to be able to fly. What a magnificent new way to view the world
manipulating time. I’d sleep SO MUCH MORE!
7 miles is awesome!!
For my superpower, probably flying.
that pug is too cute!
Congrats on the 7 mile run, enjoy your weekend!
my super power would be going back and forth through time.
7 miles! Congrats! On a good day I’ll run 3…I need to practice more for sure.
Congrats on the run! So great! Such a cute pug!!
I’ll be participating in Earth Hour tomorrow evening! It’s a big deal here (in Sweden). The newspapers have been writing about it and everyone knows about it. A lot of people participated last year. Even the castle is going lights out for Earth Hour! It’s a great statement and I’m excited for it. Imagine how cozy it’ll be, no lights, just candles and company!
If I had a superpower… hmm, flying maybe? Or healing? Healing would be a great superpower because then I could heal the people I love if they ever get hurt.
Great job on the 7 miles this morning! I love that feeling of having gotten a great workout in before most people are even up and going for the day
Super power? I think mine would be to be able to transport to certain places…it would save me so much time!
7 MILES!? That’s amazing! Congratulations!!! It must feel great to have that under your belt for the rest of the day
What a great looking breakfast! I haven’t seen that magazine before… thanks for the heads-up though, I definitely want to check it out!
Woot for 7 miles. I’m tired for you.
PUGS! Loves em. So stinking cute!
That oatmeal looked good today, with all that healthy junk added in. Yum. Lots o flava.
My superpower would be flying, cuz, it’s the best superhero power out there.
good job on the 7 miles!!!
my superpower would be to fly – i’ve always wanted to be able to just take off!
Congrats on your long run! I hope to increase my distance as well…once school is over!
7 Miles? Way to go! That’s awesome. And yay for no hip pain! Running without pain is so great!!
