…in our apartment!!! We made it to February 5 without turning on our heat once! I know that it sounds crazy, but our apartment is on the 9th floor of our building, and it’s sandwiched between two other apartments, which helps insulate it from the cold, so we just don’t turn on the heat. Plus, Mal and I would rather put on more layers and cuddle on the couch than shell out more moola for heat. We figured that 11 degrees (wind chill 1 degree!) was reason enough to finally heat our apartment! I am loving this warm, toasty feeling!
Dinner
Dinner was a similar salad to the one that I ate for lunch today: Homemade Roasted Veggie Salad.
Tonight’s salad, however, was drizzled with balsamic vinegar. FYI: On salads that I pack for lunch, I nix any sort of dressing to prevent it from getting soggy.
On the side, I had a serving of pretzels.
Together…
And, for dessert: an Organica Deluxe chocolate chip cookie! Mmmmm! Thank goodness that I decided to share the chocolate chip cookie samples with Mal– otherwise, I would have devoured them myself!
Pre-Work Snack
Before the gym tonight, I snacked on a piece of Arnold 7-Grain bread with a thick layer of BB. It gave me plenty of energy to run 4 miles and lift weights for about 30 minutes. Barney Butter power!
Woman of the Year
Harvard’s student theatrical group, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, is known for its burlesque musicals and for its status as the oldest collegiate theatrical organization in the US. The group puts on original student-written and -composed musicals, which are easily as good (if not better) than a professional show. My father-in-law is a Harvard alum, so I’ve attended the annual “Pudding Show” for the last 5 years, and Mal has been going since he was a kid. It’s SUCH a fun time– I especially love the corny puns! I can’t wait for this year’s musical!
Each year, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals select a Man and Woman of the Year. These awards are presented to performers who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.”
Established in 1951, the Woman of the Year award has been granted to many notable and talented entertainers, including Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, and, most recently, Charlize Theron. The Man of the Year award was established in 1963. Its past recipients include Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Bruce Willis, and, last year, Christopher Walken.
Anyway, long story short: Renée Zellweger was outside my office window this morning!!! (She was checking out the John Harvard statue.) Working in Harvard Yard is FABULOUS!
While I am not much of a fan of hers, it was very cool to see a celebrity!

Ooo the Hasty Pudding is always hilarious. What a neat celeb sighting!
I tried to comment on your last post, but something got messed up so I’ll try again. What I said was that after loyally following CNC for over a year (and even guest posting!) I decided to start my own blog! It’s called Blue Plate Special and will focus on food and fitness from the college student’s perspective. I’d love for you to come check it out sometime. Mind if I add you to my blog roll?
Enjoy the warmth of the heater!
What a fun day at work!
I can’t believe you went that long with the heater on! Geesh, when it’s 60 here, I’m ready to turn in on.
I”m not a big fan of Renee Z. either, but it’s always fun to see a celebrity.

I cannot believe you haven’t turned the heat on! I live in Georgia and you’d be shocked at how much my heating bill is this winter. I’m cold just thinking about you in your apartment without the heat!

Awesome celeb sighting! That’s enough to make anyone’s day.
I wish I had control of my heat – I’m on the 8th floor but the heat is cranked to levels only a basement would need! I’m in a tank top the second I get home. :/
