Pick Your Dream Kitchen

February 24, 2009

If you’re at all like me, you have fantasized (more than once) about your dream kitchen. For me, it has stainless steal, top-of-the-line appliances, ample cabinet space, a cute breakfast bar, gorgeous granite counter tops, an organized pantry, trendy, but functional light fixtures, and splashes of color in its accessories. I’m easy to please, right?! ;-)

Last night, Mal and I went to Ikea to pick up a new storage piece for our apartment. While shopping, I took some time to enjoy the kitchen displays, which I love! They’re bright and sleek, and full of clever ideas that keep everything organized and in its right place. They’re heaven for someone like me who has a slight case of OCD! ;-)

Every time I see a new kitchen display at Ikea, I imagine what it would be like to cook, dine, and entertain in it. So, just for fun, I snapped some photos for you guys to select your Ikea dream kitchen (or just your favorite kitchen) from the 7 different options below.

(I was lucky to have a handsome male model as a visual aid during the kitchen photo shoot. Mal offered to demonstrate how you could interact within each of the kitchens. He is such a goofball!)

Yup, I’m a 5 girl. Stainless steel KEEEEEEELS me though. Mine, at least, is a pain to keep clean.

I like 3 and 5 . . . but they’re all great!!! It’s just such a hard decision! I live in a studio, so my kitchen is TINY! I would love to have an eat-in kitchen one day, with lots of open space and windows and beautiful cabinets and appliances!

I want kitchen 6. It looks cozy!

Reply

Susan February 24, 2009 at 8:27 pm

What a great idea! I’ve spent too long trying to decide, but I think I like 6 the most. Looks like the best kitchen to eat breakfast in, my favourite meal of the day!

Maybe your husband should go pro? :P

#3 appeals to where I am at in life right now. Young, un-wed (but with a soon to be fiance), and child-less. It’s trendy and cool – just what I aspire to be! lol

#4 appeals to me long-term. That’s a kitchen I can see myself being happy in for the rest of my life.

Ooooo it’s a toughie! ;)

I love the ‘homey’ feel of kitchen #6 but kitchen #5! Those appliances! That counter space! I might as well be competing on Top Chef…

Reply

Erin February 25, 2009 at 5:16 pm

HAHAHA OH MY GOD! Mal is so hysterical ! I can’t say which i love best because I’m living with a pretty spiffed out kitch! But I love the picture of him looking in the fridge. :) I love how much you guys have fun together.

Kitchen’s 1, 3, and 5 are my faves. I think if I took Kitchen 3 and changed the colour of the feature wall to a green, it would be perfection and would win out over the others :)

I can’t decide between Kitchens 2 & 5. I like the “homey” feeling of Kitchen 2, but I am drooling over the storage space in Kitchen 5. I think I’m going to have to go with #5… :)
