Healthy Preparations

Super Bowl Sunday!

If you’re like me, I don’t care at all about the game, but I do care quite a bit about the Super Bowl food! On the menu for tonight: buffalo chicken dip, ham and cheese calzones, and beer! Super Bowl parties always seem to have lots of food that is “unhealthy” for your body, but, at the same time, so very “healthy” for your soul! ;-) Can’t wait!

In preparation for tonight’s caloriefest, I started my morning with a healthy breakfast of scrambled eggs, sliced tomato with ground pepper, and piece of whole wheat toast.

My eggs are actually a blend of 1 regular egg mixed with 1/3 cup of liquid egg whites, which is why the color looks so light.

Oh, and, of course, my morning included coffee with agave nectar and oat milk.

I also have a trip to the Y on the agenda for this morning. I’m thinking about going for a long run on the treadmill. Gotta get a head-start on those buffalo chicken dip calories! ;-)

Yum! You just helped me decide what to have for breakfast :)

You honestly have the healthiest (mind-body-soul) approach to eating well and making room for those little indulgences … thanks for the inspiration!

Also, make sure to watch the special new episode of The Office after the superbowl!!!

Hehe, I just realized a few moments ago that it was super bowl Sunday. I guess I don’t run in a football fan crowd :)

Enjoy the festivities, have a great day!

Hi Tina! This is my first time commenting, but I’ve been following your blog for awhile and enjoy it so much:) This post was nice for me to read today, just because it’s something I’ve been struggling with lately, and it’s good to read that there’s no reason to be upset or weird about enjoying food, even if it’s not that healthy! so thank you!

hope you have a fun day:)

I only like the new commercials. I don’t even know what’s playing. Tina, you really are an inspiration. I try really hard to just let go and enjoy myself but it’s so hard. It’s great that you have a healthy mind-body-soul connection. I’m still trying. :)

I’m envious that your Y opens early on Sunday mornings. We only have one in town that opens before noon, and it’s across town. The goal was to drive there this morning, but it hasn’t happened yet. :) I might as well just wait until my local one opens in about 20 minutes.

Enjoy the Superbowl festivities!

Good to know I’m not the only one who could care less about football! And there won’t be any Super Bowl parties for me either, can’t say I know many people into the NFL here.

I couldn’t wait to come here and see if you were planning on having some fab super bowl eats! I know I’ll be tuning in (to your blog that is:P) I haven’t even made eggs and toast in forever. It’s probably one of the most standard american breakkies and I think we get so caught up in making all our oats haha-now i want that!

I am SO not into the Superbowl either – bah, give me the NBA any day (except my Pistons are slackin’)!

Yeah, I woke up this morning and could feel the tension in my dormatory. Luckily, my closest friends share my dispassion for football, so we’re going out to Japantown for sushi!

I’m not a fan of football, but I go kind of crazy on the Kentucky Derby. Superbowl spreads = my Kentucky Derby spreads. And I dare ANY footballholic to equal my rage when Smarty Jones lost the Belmont!

Your Superbowl feast sounds delicious! Have fun!

I’m just wondering how well oat milk goes in coffee? I can’t have dairy anymore, and I’m trying to limit my soy intake, so I’m in search of a milk substitute that doesn’t split or curdle in coffee. So far I’ve tried almond milk and it was not a good experience at all. :( I don’t know whether to go for oat or rice milk next, I’ve been a bit scared after the almond milk experience!

Tina February 3, 2009 at 7:04 am

@Ash: It works great in hot coffee– it barely curdles.
