Last night, I met my friends, Blain, Stephanie, and Dean, at the Border Cafe in Harvard Square for dinner. I love, love, love Border because the food is delicious, the service is fast, and the price is right, but it’s one of those places that you can definitely over-do-it in the calorie department!
As always, shots of the decor…
We sat downstairs, which is dimly lit, quaint, and cozy.
So, here’s where I really over-did-it…
Within minutes of sitting down at our table, our server brought us a basket of warm, greasy, salty tortilla chips. Of course, they were heaven served in a basket, and I ate about a million of them!
Once I started, I just couldn’t stop! GAH!
You’d think after mowing-down on tortilla chips, I had ruined my dinner. But, somehow, I managed to eat half of a huge veggie quesadilla as my entree.
Needless to say, I left Border feeling stuffed to the gills and a little disappointed in myself. Ugh, I hate that feeling! I suppose over-eating happens every now and then, so there’s no point in getting down on myself, right? I have a hot date with the gym tonight, so hopefully, that will make me feel better.
Minus the pigging-out part, seeing my old coworkers was such a fun time! I loved hearing about all of the office drama that I am missing. I am so happy that I no longer have to deal with it!

Don’t be too hard on yourself!! You’re a great model with your exercise and overall eating patterns. I find your blog to be so true-to-self- squeezing in gym time among work and errands; hanging out with friends; just skipping the gym sometime to hang with your man (like me!); and when you get home from work, eating something that doesn’t take 40 minutes to bake. Also, taking full advantage of all good eats Boston has to offer. Basically, a REAL person. It’s so refreshing.
I agree, don’t get too down on yourself. You seem to have one of the healthiest relationships with in all of blogland. Life happens and you display that so well!
Your dinner looks completely worth the stuffed to the gills feeling
Plus you can’t go wrong with good company!
Eh, it happens to the best of us – and usually when it involves hot, greasy tortilla chips!
Looks like a fun place!
Tina, hot tortilla chips make all of us crazy! It just happened to me last week on vacation
Oh man, seeing that brought me back to my years at BC! I miss Harvard Square.
I think the amount of fun you had last night made up for a little indulgence. Everyone has a food weakness, but for a person like you who eats healthy, it’s worth it!
i always seem to over-indulge on mexican food. the chips and salsa, or worse, queso, get me every time. its all their fault, of course.
OMG fresh chips are QUITE a trigger food for me!
Don’t worry, happens to me all the time! It is a bad feeling though! Chips and salsa are the best!!!

Tortilla chips are my absolute weakness, whether they’re on the table or in my pantry they don’t stand a chance!
don’t be too hard on yourself – it’s once in a while!
i’m glad you had fun with your previous coworkers though!
How fun! I love catching up with old friends.
Those chip baskets are brutal. Why don’t they bring veggie baskets?! Come on!
I have a hot date tonight too
So fun!!
Restaurant tortilla chips are SO hard to resist, but hey you probably won’t be craving them for a while right??
And hot dates at the gym always rock!!
I would have pigged out on a veggie quesadilla too! hope the gym helped you feel better!
Chips on the table are EVIL! LOL. I can eat a million of those and always eat my meal as well.
You eat well 99% of the time– you’re allowed to splurge every once in a while!
I am the same way at Mexican restaurants…..love those chips!
That looks really cute! I love all the lights! Oinking is necessary Teen, and you taught me that actually.
that quesadilla looks sooo good! I hate when I eat past satiety too…but it will all even out for you my dear!
There was cake at the office today and I thought of how you said the one thing you can’t resist is cake! So I indulged in a piece with that thought in mind
worth every sugary morsle.
I got my V-Day scavenger hunt package today in the mail. It couldn’t have come on a better day. Thank you so much Tina! I really appreciate your generosity!

I love reading your blog because it really inspires me to make my meals more healthy!
I’m a Texan but I lived in Boston for a couple of years. I went to HGSE and then I worked in educational publishing in Cambridge. I used to go to Border Cafe to satisfy my Tex-Mex cravings, and it brings back great memories to see your pictures of it!
Tina,
Don’t feel bad – we’re ALL powerless to the charms of the Border Cafe chips/salsa – they’re just so thin and crispy and yummy! (ok, I might have to go this weekend).
Try the Cajun food next time – Eggplant Royale is AMAZING!
mmmmmmmmmmm LOVE the border cafe!!
I want to go to there. I love your blog. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
