20-20-20

Boy, am I en-er-gized today! Wheeee! I guess that’s what happens when you have a really great early morning workout– all of those feel-good endorphins kick in hard! ;-)

My morning workout was a 20-20-20, which included 20 minutes of cardio followed by 20 minutes of strength training, and concluded with 20 minutes of yoga. My cardio was a moderate-intensity interval run that alternated speeds and inclines, and covered a little over 2 miles on the treadmill. The strength training utilized free weights as well as my own body weight to tone my upper body. The yoga was a 20-minute Power Yoga session from yogadownload.com. It was a fairly challenging series that focused on strength, stability, and flexibility. Coincidentally, many of the moves were geared toward the hamstrings and hips, which are muscle groups that best compliment running. These 3 types of exercise were the perfect combination for me, especially because I am such a bum about stretching after running!

Breakfast

Today’s lovely bowl of oats included lots of B-named ingredients: berries, bread, and Barney Butter

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup dry oats
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 piece of whole wheat bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup vanilla hemp milk
  • 2 scoops of Barney Butter

Question of the Day

What is your hidden talent?

Hidden talent: I can stand backwards. Well, not really, but my hips rotate really far, so I can stand with my feet facing the “wrong” way

I also think the 20/20/20 workout rocks. That’s about as long as I can handle of anything before I get bored.

I make a mean pie crust. You’d never know. Oh, and I’m a word nerd. I’ve been reading since I was 3. Sadly, blogs and Entertainment Weekly are about it for me these days ;)
