The Best Pad Thai from a Box

January 19, 2009

I love it when Mal cooks dinner for us!  Usually, we cook together, but sometimes we alternate taking on the whole meal ourselves, so the other person can relax. It’s the best when you can sit on your behind and chill while dinner cooks. The only work you have to do is lift your fork and chew! ;-)

Mal made a wonderful pad thai meal for us… with a little help from Trader Joe’s. TJ’s sells a box of Pad Thai Noodles and Sauce that takes just 15 minutes to prepare. The only ingredients that you need to add yourself are olive oil, an egg, and your choice of veggies. The box includes rice noodles and some special sauce.

Mal got to test our new wok tonight!

To the pad thai, Mal added sliced red peppers and snap peas to give the meal some addition nutrients and pizazz! ;-)

As always, the pad thai turned out excellent! (We’re big fans of this easy-to-prepare meal!) You would have never guessed that it was from a box!

i love pad thai! its pretty easy to make w/o relying on a box too – just grab the noodles, make up a sauce, and add all the extras :) I looove tofu in mine!

when i’ve tried to make pad thai from scratch, it has never matched up to restaurant pad thai. maybe i’ve been using a bad recipe … or maybe i need to try this tj’s box!

Sooo sweet of Mal to prepare dinner… my fiance used to grill dinner a couple of times a week, but alas there is no room for the grill at our new apartment! I’ll have to check out the pad thai – looks yummy.

The pad and the haul both look awesome. I’ll keep that TJ’s box kind in mind for the future (though my homemade is pretty easy too…)
My guy never cooks, but trust me, its best that way. Glad you got to put your feet up!

@HangryPants: I don’t think Mal bought BBQ this week. I think they were just salted.

Reply

Tina January 20, 2009 at 1:18 am

@Jessica: We try to stay under $75 for both Mal and I.

wait…you actually spent $9 on all of that??? how how how???

Reply

Elina (Healthy and Sane) January 20, 2009 at 5:26 pm

Kate, I think she spent $9 below what she was planning on! :)
Tina, that’s so cool that Mal cooked for you guys, and that mix looks awesome. I tried making pad thai from scratch once and it tasted nice but not as good as the stuff in a restaurant. This could be a good way to satisfy a pad thai craving without blowing my diet. I’m adding it to our grocery list!!

kate January 20, 2009 at 5:46 pm

ha. gotcha. thanks elina! :)
