Getting Used to a New Schedule

January 22, 2009

Getting used to a new schedule isn’t easy! Jeez. I’m exhausted this morning! I’ve moved my workouts to the evenings, which means I am going to bed and waking up later, but my body hasn’t quite adjusted to the schedule change yet. Let’s hope it catches up soon!

Breakfast was a repeat of yesterday’s oats: pumpkin, wheat berries, cottage cheese, and Barney Butter. This time, however, I added extra cottage cheese and a few raisins on top.

Yesterday, this bowl of oats held me over no problem until about 1:00 PM. Almost 6 hours! That’s some serious staying-power!

This morning, I am brewing a fresh pot of coffee. I thought about taking iced coffee to go on my commute, but it’s just too cold!

Question of the Day

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I hope that Mal and I own a house and a pug, and we’ve traveled to Paris and Napa by then. :-D

In five years I hope that Scott and I are living in the house of our dreams in the perfect location and we finally find a place to call “home”. I hope that we each have successful businesses and that together we have a successful business. :)

In 5 years, I’m hoping I’ll have graduated for the second time, and we’ll have maybe started a family, and for my big graduation trip that I’ve already been promised, I want to go to Napa too! :)

Ahh I totally feel you on the adjusting to a new job/ schedule deal. I’m in the same boat, except I’m going from almost half a year of job searching/ unemployment to a job doing event planning and fundraising for a nonprofit. I love it, but so far everyday’s schedule is different and I’m getting home at different times, which is making it so much harder to get into my new routine/ schedule new workout times, cooking times, blogging time, etc.

No idea where I’ll be in 5 years, but I’m pretty sure my husband and I will be living in a different town, and if we haven’t already bought a house hopefully we would soon! And hopefully we’ll have traveled more, we’re planning on a cruise this summer for our first anniversary to kick that off! :)

We have that same coffee maker… I love the “auto brew” option!

Hmmm, five years. Well, that would make me almost 31, so John and I would probably be thinking about having a baby! I’ll be happy living in the city for a few years, but in 5 I’d like to be living in a nice old house in one of the surrounding suburbs of Boston. Cambridge? Somerville? Definitely in MA somewhere!

Hopefully I will have passed the BAR by then :) (I’m a first year law student) and will be living in one of the amazing suburbs right outside of DC, right near a Metro stop. And hopefully I will have paid off at least some of my $150,000 loans. Oh, and hopefully I will have maintained my workouts and reached my goal weight and kept it off for a while (I have lost 63 lbs. so far, and have about 10-15 to go)

In 5 years, I have no idea. My husband and I are about to move to Colorado (if we ever sell our house). So, I hope to be out West enjoying some fresh mountain air!

Sorry you’re having trouble with your new schedule. It’s hard to go from working out in the mornings to evening exercise. Just stick with the new plan – give it a little time. Your body will adjust.

Nice breakfast, as always.

In 5 years:

Either in a job I love and have a passion for OR at home with a baby :)
AND I hope we get to travel (just the two of us) before the baby happens!

Great question. I hope that fiance (then Husband) and I will get to have travelled at least 2 big trips, own a house and maybe have a baby by then…or on its’ way.

I’ve been blog stalking and will be copying your breakfast shortly. Looks so good!

Anyway, in 5 years, I’m hoping we have paid off my husband’s student loans, taken one last big trip as a couple before kids – Napa is also on our list too!, bought a new house (i.e. the economy is better and we aren’t losing money on our current house!), run a marathon, and had at least baby #1.

So how long is your commute now? Is it better than before?

In 5 years I hope to have one child and be pregnant with number two! And I hope that my husband and I have traveled to Greece and Costa Rica.

Sarah (lovINmytummy) January 22, 2009 at 11:22 am

Yummy oats combo. Never tried the CC myself.

I have that coffee pot too, but I hate it. For some reason, there’s a lake underneath it after I brew a pot. Luckily its just a lake of water and not coffee, but it still ticks me off. Of course, brewing 2 pots a day is probably wearing it out.

In five years I see myself having a paying job again, NOT practicing law, but hopefully something with writing, food and/or fitness. Any ideas????

In 5 years I see myself happily settled with my soon-to-be husband in a cute little house out in the ‘burbs with 1 or 2 kids, which is actually a little scary to think about! Ha!

Tina, you may have answered this before, but why did you move your workouts to the evenings? How is it going so far? I work out in the evenings too and sometimes it’s really tough.

In five years, I see myself on a porch looking at my garden.

Hi Tina… I’m a new blogger but have been reading your blog for months & months. It’s great! I just had a quick question: I seem to remember that you recently bought a Mac. I’m just wondering what program you use (if any) to post? I’m also running a Mac and am sooo sad that I can’t use Windows Live Writer. Any suggestions?

What a fun question, in 5 years, I plan on being married, and living somewhere different, maybe NC or SC. Jersey is just way to expensive.
Although it’s fun to think 5 years into the future I’d rather not, I’d be in the last year of my 20s ah!

In 5 years, I know I will NOT be in New York in Mid January. No how No way. My husband retires in 3 years (at age 49, YAY!) so in 5 years we will be somewhere warm for the winter.
Hopefully, by the time 5 years goes by, one of my children will give me a grandchild! They will be 30, 26, and 24 so hopefully I will already have several to spoil by then

In 5 years, my husband and I will have out first child and be settled back home (we are living on the coast temporarly for hubbys work..) :)

Five years… maybe back home in NYC, or Europe, or some other FAB city with my boyfriend (and soon-to-be fiance and then hubby). Working as a reporter for a great daily newspaper, if they still exist=( DEFINITELY having a pug, beagle or a dog from the human society. Then getting ready to move on… life is too short to stay in one place forever!

In 5 years, I should be done my Dietics degree and working as an RD, living back in Vancouver, hopefully having bought, or soon to buy, either a condo, townhouse, or real house. Oh, and skating on a synchro team, and hopefully there is a significant other around as well :D

In 5 years I’ll be done with school and working as an RD, hopefully doing outpatient counseling. I won’t be living in this terrible city anymore . . . I would love to live closer to my family, and definitely in the same city as my bf (we’ve been LDR for a year now!).

@Rose: My new schedule at work is 8:30 – 4:30, which means less time to workout in the mornings. I’ll probably have an occasional AM workout here and there, but waking up at 5:00 AM to exercise is not my cup of tea! Plus my “gym buddy” (Mal) has been great for getting my butt to the gym in the evening! :)

I have that same coffee maker. :)
In five years I hope to be in a home not an apartment. Hopefully not still teaching since my passion for it is slowly leaving me. It’s hard. I’m stressed out 99% of the time. I can’t stand when people say “you’re so lucky to be a teacher, all those holidays”. Let me say that if teachers didn’t get the breaks they get there would be NO TEACHERS!!! So I hope to be doing something else in something that I am passionate about which is health and fitness.
