First Groceries of 2009

I haven’t posted a grocery list in months now, so I thought it was about time to do so! Plus, Mr. Mal and I are trying to stick to a weekly grocery budget. Today, we took the time to meal plan, take advantage of in-store specials, and check the unit price on products. Our total today was just $2 over our budgeted allowance, which isn’t bad for us! We’re usually about 20 bucks over! Let’s hope we can keep up the “bargain shopping” through 2009!

This week’s cart:

  • Box of clementines
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • 4 containers of yogurt
  • Low-fat cottage cheese
  • Vanilla soy milk
  • Chocolate soy milk
  • Organic 1% milk
  • 2 cans of chick peas
  • Smoked Gruyere cheese
  • Frozen chopped spinach
  • Linquine
  • 2 lemons
  • Canned pumpkin
  • Bananas
  • Shredded coconut
  • Chocolate chips
  • Broccoli crowns
  • Carrots
  • Bove’s Basil Marinara
  • Kettle chips
  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Italian bagged lettuce
  • 2 Larabars
  • 1 Luna Tea Cake
  • 2 Luna Bars
  • French bread
  • Brown sugar
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Liquid egg whites
  • Organic mac & cheese
  • Frozen cheese raviolis

I recently discovered your blog and LOVE it! :0 I would like to read the archives, they seem to go back to February 1st, but from reading the comments, I get the impression the blog goes back even further. Can you direct me?
You are an inspiration to someone like me who is trying to erase years of bad eating and finally establish some good habits.
    Have a great weekend!
    Judy

Love reading about (and seeing) the goods! And boy do I envy those who can buy Kettle Chips and not eat them all on the first day… :)
