Afternoon Eats and a Tribute

January 11, 2009

Despite enjoying a heavenly breakfast of pancakes and coffee, my stomach was growling just 3 hours later. All of those sweet, wonderful carbs just didn’t have the same staying-power as eggs or a bowl of oatmeal. Oh well, they were delicious… every single bite!

Lunch was leftover chicken pesto salad with TJ’s sesame crackers, followed by 3 delightful and delectable Medjool dates. (Man, I love Medjool dates!)

A Tribute

I made a big decision this afternoon. I chose to donate my favorite pair of jeans ever. This particular pair has more than 6 years of memories attached to them, and they have been with me though many good times as well as bad times.

Buying these jeans was a true accomplishment for me back in 2002. They were the first expensive purchase I made after graduating college and entering the working world. I remember saving my money for weeks, and being so excited the day that I went to purchase them. I proudly wore these jeans for the first couple of years.

Over the years, my “good” jeans became my “casual” jeans and then my “weekend” jeans… and now I can’t even feel good wearing them on the weekends. I’ve loved them too much! They are paper thin in multiple places, and it’s just a matter of time before they have holes everywhere!

These jeans have been loved very much, and despite being sad to see them go, I know it’s time. Goodbye, jeans! You will be missed!

I have a hot date with the treadmill and the Real Housewives! See ya tonight! Happy Sunday!

Medjool dates – yum. I love to replace the pit with a big pecan. My own version of pecan pie. :)

Bye-bye jeans. I’ve been there. It’s never easy.

Great tribute to your jeans! Isn’t it funny how us girls can become so attached to them? :) My first expensive pair I bought were Citzens and I still love them, eventhough they have seen better days!

Jeans sure have lasting power don’t they. Those look insanely comfortable. Worn in jeans are the best. RIP lovely jeans!

I love Citizens! I have a few pairs that I should probably give away too but it is so hard knowing the price I paid! I still wear them every now and then even though they are thin and faded!

Haha, sounds like it was definitely time for those jeans to go. I know what you mean about loving jeans for too long, though. It’s one of those things that’s hard to let go of!

That chicken salad looks delish!

I know how hard it was for you to give up your favorite pair of jeans. I always feel guilty doing that. Like the clothes have feelings. ha ha! :)

Awww, I have a pair of Sevens that are currently my “weekend” jeans. They were one of my first big purchases after college and they are starting to look a little rough, too!
I treadmilled with the Real Housewives this afternoon, too :)
