A Little Help from Google Images

January 14, 2009

I never went to Best Buy last night to pick up my repaired camera (I know, I’m a bum), so I decided utilize Google Images for my lunch post today. I hope you don’t mind! Plus, I promised you guys that I wouldn’t subject you to anymore yucky-old-camera-photos! ;-)

Today’s lunch started with edamame

… followed by a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread (sans tomato) and 2 clementines.

Dessert was 3 wonderful Medjool dates (just like the photo). But, after eating them, I was still craving something sweet. The dates just didn’t do it for me today! So…

I splurged on a cinnamon chip muffin from the cafe… and it was totally worth the splurge! The muffin top was thick and crispy, while the middle was soft and doughy. Mmmmm… muffin perfection! I justified the splurge with it being one of my last days at HSPH, and I won’t be able to enjoy these lovely muffins anymore. ;-)

Because of the muffin splurge, I decided to skip my afternoon snack today, which seems to be okay so far since I’m not really hungry, but I’m sipping a mug of peppermint tea to keep my mouth busy. I do, however, have a feeling dinner is going to be early tonight!

YAY for the Barney Butter news – right after I read your post asking for substitutes I wondered over to Hangry Pants where Heather gave a great review about Barney Butter and I didn’t realize that its sweeter than normal organic nut butters!!! I still don’t know if I can stomach paying $14 for a nut butter though!!! but the free shipping is GOOD news! There are NO fresh markets near me :(

onto Probiotics – I LOOOOOVE probiotics. I’ve been a slacker and haven’t been taking them regularly, but when I do, my stomach feels tons better. I’ve been plagued with stomach issues which is part of why I went vegan. The probiotics add a little oomph to my so-called regularity. they are great for your body – my friend P (who is into yoga, bikram yoga and all things hippie and natural) first told me about probiotics helping my gut probably 7 years ago….THEY ARE GOOD FOR THE BODY!

I’m way too enthusiastic right now – I apologize, I’m gonna go to the gym now…

My doctor just put me on probiotics because of some dairy related issues. In the two weeks since I’ve eliminated dairy and started them probiotics, I’ve lost about 5 pounds and 2 inches off my waist and I feel about a zilion times. Definitely worth the hype.

I started taking probiotics a maybe 4 months ago. It has really helped my stomach issues, and I am much more regular now. I couldn’t believe how much it actually helped me. I take them every morning when I wake up :)

My baby Liv was so sick her first year of life with chronic vomiting and runny poo. We went oat free and gluten free and put her on probiotics and it really seemed to help (I don’t know which was responsible ultimately). She’s back on the wheat and we’ll try oats again soon, but whenever things get funky down there, we give her her little buggers and she seems to do better.

Its worth a try! But our doctor said that the products that claim to have probiotics, ie the national brand yogurts, granola bars, etc. don’t have nearly enough units to do anything productive.

Creative way to get your pics in and they look great!

I’ve just started taking probiotics in the last two weeks. I have Crohn’s and have been on anti-biotics for the last two months and my naturopath wanted to start me on something to get some good bacteria going in my gut.

I’m happy to hear that other have found them to be helpful and I’m hopeful that I will fall into that category soon!

Hi Tina! This is the first time I’ve posted, but I’ve been a reader for a long time. I love probiotics. I was really sick and in the hospital in August with a virus and my stomach hasn’t been right since. In December, my doctor recommended that I take an over the counter probiotic, Florastor. Within a week I was 95 percent better.

I WAS going to say that the idea of probiotics being added back into food makes me nervous — like a little bit too faddy or artificial — but everyone has such positive things to say about them! It sounds like most of you have had success with probiotics in pill/capsule form, right?

I’m seeing Barney Butter everywhere (except anywhere near me to purchase) i’ll have to try it one day.

Oh the muffin looks really good.

I love taking probiotics. Like everyone else said, they’ve made my stomach issues go away and I’ve noticed that I do not get as sick as much, which is always a bonus. I take mine in capsule form with at least 2 billion count.

That muffin sounds delicious!! I like getting my probiotics in yogurt, other than that I don’t take extra supplements. However, stomach issues seem to run in my family (not for me thanksfully..yet), so I know they help many of my cousins/aunts/uncles.

I was super excited for the new BB shipping code!! I ordered two jars today!!

I’d love a muffin right now! I take probiotic supplements almost every morning. They do not really help me because I have a gum addiction which messes up my stomach every day! I chew one to two packs and the sorbitol does not agree with me. I just always need my mouth to be busy!

Wow, great pictures. :)

I take a pharmaceutical grade probiotic every morning. I have to take antibiotics often as I’m prone to urinary tract infections. Gotta make sure to restore the good bacteria in my system!

Have a great night!

This is interesting – I never knew that probiotics existed in another form from the yogurts. And those kind of wig me out. I just don’t like the fact that they push you to be regular. If you eat well, you’re probably going to be regular. Don’t push that yogurt on me, ok? But it’s interesting that everyone says that they lost weight, felt better, etc. Good stuff.

Love them! I get mine via yogurt. :D

To HeatherEatsAlmondButter, You probably already know this but cranberries help keep the UT clean and healthy. Either straight up or you can buy cranberry pills. :)
