Presenting the Vita-Mix Blender

Our blender died back in mid-November, so the Vita-Mix Super 5200 blender arrived just in time! :)

Let me start off by saying that this thing is diesel! It’s heavy-duty and powerful! Look at this thing! Not at all wimpy!

Included with the blender was the most amazing Whole Food Recipes binder, packed full of wonder recipes. I would seriously pay money for this cookbook! There are a ton of recipes that I can’t wait to try– from pancake batters to soups to sauces to salad dressings…. the options are endless! :) This blender is such an awesome addition to our kitchen! I can see myself using it ALL of the time! :-D

I used the Super 5200 to make smoothies for Mal and I this morning. It whipped-up the ingredients in no time (about 10 seconds), and there were absolutely zero lumps or clumps of any kind. With our old blender, I would have to stop, manually stir the smoothie, and blend again. No need with the Super 5200! :)

Blended Bliss Smoothie

Makes 2

  • 1 medium banana
  • 3/4 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 cup chocolate soy milk
  • 1 container Greek yogurt (I used strawberry flavor)
  • 1 handful of ice
  • I packet of YouShake Blended Bliss

The smoothies came out GREAT! The flavor was won-fer-ful and the consistency was per-fect! Seriously, Mal couldn’t stop raving about its consistency!

Breakfast smoothie with Oatmeal Date Cookies…

Workout

I had planned a sweaty treadmill run this morning, but my left shin has been killing me for a few days now. I’m guessing it’s a mega shin splint. Ouch! Anyway, I opted for a sweaty treadmill walk instead. I did my favorite 45-minute treadmill workout

Walk stats:

  • Distance: 3.10
  • Time: 45:00
  • Pace: 14:30 min/mile
  • Calories: 315

After my walk, I pumped some iron

  • Push-ups on bench: Body weight, 12 reps, 3 sets
  • Shoulder press: 10 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Biceps curls: 10 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Tricep overhead dumbbell extension: 12 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets
  • Dips off bench: Body weight, 15 reps, 3 sets
Mal and I are off to run some errands and have lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Boston– one that hasn’t yet been featured on the blog! It’s crazy to think that we haven’t been there in almost a year!

Haha, your old blender sounds like ours! It is so old that it can barely crush the ice anymore! The Vita-Mix sounds incredible! Glad your smoothie turned out so well!

    Have fun at lunch!

oooh! I might need to try one of these Vitamix blenders. We have a new one, but I ALWAYS have to manually stir my smoothies, which is annoying.

I didn’t answer last night’s question about video games, but I cried silent tears of joy when my husband SOLD his xbox 360.

@Caroline: It’s a protein packet of sorts from YouBar. They use all-natural and organic ingredients… and they’re delish!
