Is Food More Than Fuel?
Happy Monday, blogworld! I’m looking forward to a short 2-day week before a nice long vaca! I’m off from work until January 5th!!!
Wahoo!
After a 45-minute full body free weight workout and a shower, I settled down to a wonderful bowl of creamy banana oats (with ground flaxseed meal mixed in). My fav!

I topped my banana oats with Zoe’s granola and a big ol’ scoop of Barney Butter.
Speaking of Barney Butter, what do you guys think of the name ‘Barney‘ for a (boy) pug? Ok, I admit that I am crazy about Barney Butter, but the pug would actually be named after the character on How I Met Your Mother, which is one of my favorite television shows… it just happens to be the same name as my favorite nut butter!
At the office, I made myself a mug of Italian roast with vanilla hemp milk and agave nectar. Mmmmm!
Foodies Continue to Indulge
A tough economy won’t stop foodies from eating out, buying gourmet and organic ingredients, and trying new things, a study by Packaged Facts shows. The study says food is more than fuel for foodies. It defines who they are. Does food define who you are? If so, how?

@Erica:Maybe next summer! Our apartment doesn’t allow dogs and our lease isn’t up until August, so hopefully once we move!

Barney is my brother’s dog’s name. Well, it’s actually short for Barnacle (he lives on the ocean). I think it’s a great dog’s name, and it has 2 special meanings for you
Maybe I’ll name our next dog Naturally Nutty
Despite the hard times, I have not cut my grocery budget. I can’t help it – I love nothing more than spending an hour…or two at Whole Foods. Love trying new things, and love spending a lot of cash on exotic nut butters. Making beautiful meals and spending hours in the kitchen makes me happy. It’s who I am.

I have a pug named Bernie, sometimes people call him Barney. I am fan of any name that ends in a long E sound. It is fun to call out! Pugs are fantastic dogs.

I love the name Barney! That’s really cute! I don’t think it defines me, but…it almost does!

I think Barney would be the perfect name for Tina & Mal’s pug
My best friend has a dog named Barney – it’s named after the dinosaur, haha!! You can tell they have had him for a while!

Ohh Barney would be an adorable pug name–either reason for naming him that would be cute
I think food is first and foremost fuel for our bodies, but I do also believe that we should ENJOY every bite that goes into our mouths. In times of economic strain, I guess sticking to basic, non-extravagant meals is best, but still making them delicious and enjoyable is a must for me at least. Great question/thought!

I think it defines part of who you are only if you make it a big part of your life. My friends and family know how much I love trying new restaurants, cooking, and eating healthy so in that case I think it does define part of me. It’s almost like a hobby or a pastime, like someone who’s really into playing baseball, watching baseball…etc, but with me its food

Hmm..I don’t think food defines who I am, but it defines certain choices that I have made and make to continually have a healthy lifestyle.
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I think Barney for a pug’s name is adorable! just perfect:] you have to post pictures when you get him on Christmas:D
I think… that although the food doesn’t define who I am , the lifestyle I have with the food defines who I am. I like eating healthy and wouldn’t ever eat an animal.. and that’s just part of me, compassion, I guess. So that in it’s itself could “define” me

I love the name Barney!! Reminds me of the Flintstones…. Oats look great as usual:)
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 1:41 pm
ahaha…my dad always seems to give our dogs people names; the past two have been Mike and George. hilarious.

I love the name Barney for a pug. It’s so cute! Speaking of Barney… I finally got my Barney butter. I love it! It’s far too easy to get addicted to this stuff.
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 2:20 pm
Haha, do you want your pug to be a player?
Love BB!
Food defines me! I don’t know how, but it’s my favorite thing to do (eat, cook, talk about it…)
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 3:33 pm
George W.’s scotty dog is/was named Barney, I can’t support the name Barney for any dog you may have, pug or not!
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 3:54 pm
I love Barney, it’s a cute name. Although I have to admit, it automatically makes me think of the big purple dinosaur…
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Its cute but when I hear it the first thing that comes to mind is “dinosaur.”
on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 8:12 pm

of course food is more than fuel…..it’s a big joy of life: both of process of preparing it and the moment to enjoy it!

food is my life. Not only am I a baker but I am constantly looking up recipes and trying my own twists on food. My friends now me for the parties I throw and the food I make. Food isn’t everything I am but it makes up a good part of my identity.
