A Merry Christmas Eve Brunch
Merry Christmas Eve!!! I can’t believe it’s already here! My Christmas Eve day has been magnificent so far!
Mal and I woke up early for a workout in our building’s gym this morning. He did some strength training while I ran on the treadmill. I blasted almost 600 calories before 8:00 AM! I love those mornings— they start your day off on the right foot and build-up your appetite!
Run stats:
- Distance: 6.04
- Time: 55:11
- Pace: 9:07 min/mile
- Calories: 595
Since Christmas Eve is a special occasion, Mal and I decided to celebrate with brunch at the Wheelhouse Diner. There, I ordered an egg over easy with homefries and raisin toast. I also brought a very ripe banana from home to eat with brunch. (The banana was on its very last day– it was either eat it or toss it in the garbage… and you guys know how I hate wasting food!)
The Wheelhouse Diner makes the BEST homefries! I ate them with a squirt of ketchup.

The very ripe banana slices were practically mush!

The banana was so soft that it easily spread on the raisin toast, which was SUCH a yummy combo!

With brunch, I also drank a big mug of coffee with two mini-creamers of Half & Half.

It was a very merry Christmas Eve brunch! I almost the entire plate of food (minus one slice of toast, a few slices of banana, and a couple bites of homefries, which Mal finished off, no problem).

After brunch, we packed-up to head home to spend Christmas with our families. Look at how much stuff we took with us!!! (Most of it was presents!
)

On the ride home, I found two old Starbucks cards in the car that we had forgotten about. We weren’t sure if they had any money left on them, so we popped into Starbucks for a couple of holiday beverages. I ordered a tall, eggnog misto, which only has 80 calories (thanks, Christy!) Mal ordered a grande, iced, peppermint latte. Both of the Starbucks cards ended up having a little money leftover on them, so we got our drinks for just $2.11!

I’m so excited to be home with our families! Mal and I just finished decorating his parents’ Christmas tree, and we’re off to my grandparents’ house later this evening for a semi-competitive Yankee Swap and family sing along. (A few members of my family are talented musicians!)
Merry Christmas, all!!!!!!

BYOB this morning, huh? That made me laugh as I’ve brought food from home to accompany my meals at restaurants as well. The banana looks like it made the perfect spread for your toast-great combo.
What is this eggnog misto you speak of? I must look into that.
Merry Christmas Tina!

I’m afraid you’ve got mistaken information about the eggnog misto! A tall 2% *milk* misto has 80 calories, but we all know that eggnog has a lot more calories than does 2% milk – more fat and sugar. It’s probably got more in the 150-200 range. Still not bad for an occasional treat, but I’d check your source on this one

never heard of an eggnog misto!!!

mmm…i had a gingerbread misto on christmas eve! a little less filling than the latte. i bet the eggnog misto was delicious!

Just an FYI to anyone who thinks the stats on the egg nog misto are wrong: I contacted starbucks directly by calling their customer service hotline to find this out. The tall egg nog misto has 80 calories and 5.5 grams of fat and the grande is 110 calories and 7 grams of fat. This came directly from Starbucks themselves. Thought you would all like to know. Thanks!

I really, really think there is no way that can be accurate and that they were giving you a lazy answer. Think about it logically. Eggnog does not have the same amount of calories as 2% milk; it has a lot more. If they’re substituting any amount of the 2% milk for eggnog, it will have more calories.

I agree with you, but they did not go about it the lazy way, it took them a little while to get the answer, maybe they use low fat egg nog, who knows. But I am going to go with the facts from Starbucks because they are pretty accurate with everything else, so why would they lie? If you do not believe, try calling them, the number is on their website.
