Shopping Success

Sorry, guys. No food photos for this evening’s post. I thought that my Sunday afternoon was going to be low-key and relaxed, but it ended up being very busy!

Shortly after eating breakfast and getting ready for the day, Mal and I decided to go Christmas shopping! I have no idea where the sudden motivation came from– maybe we were amped-up on iced coffee? Anyway, we headed to the mall, where we spent 2.5 hours shopping non-stop. But, we were able to buy gifts for every single person on our list! Amazing, right? I have never, ever in all my years of Christmas gift-giving been able to finish my shopping in one trip. I’m still impressed! All we need to do now is wrap our presents, which I (weirdly) love doing. Long story short, after shopping, I hit the treadmill for a quick 3 mile run, showered, got dressed, threw together a portable dinner, and hopped on the T to Healthworks for my shift (whew!), soooo I didn’t have time to upload my photos.

With holiday shopping in full swing, what’s your shopping strategy?

Today’s food recap:

Run stats:

  • Distance: 3 miles
  • Time: 26:57
  • Pace: 8:59 min/mile
  • Calories: 301

Online shopping! I hate the mall during holiday season. Call me a grouch but I just can’t stand the crowds! If I do go, I go early in the morning on the weekend to avoid all the crazy business. Hopefully I can buy the majority of my gifts online this year as I have in years past. It is a life and time (and sanity) saver!

My holiday strategy is to buy local as much as possible, especially in our current economy. Shopping online or from big stores is usually easier and cheaper, but if we can support local shop owners I really try to do so.

Good job! I have yet to do ANY Christmas shopping. I am kind of dreading the idea… I have SUCH a hard time picking out gifts. I think I need to get on that asap though!

Congratulations! My strategy this year is to make 60% of my gifts. So I’m doing a ton of research now…fun stuff.

Wow. Pretty impressive. I’m baking everyone’s gifts this year. I already found fancy adorable gift boxes, and because I’m doing variety cookie boxes, I plan on making the different doughs throughout the month, and then freezing it until I bake it a few days before I hand out the gifts.

    Julia,

I think so? I haven’t been on top of my “training,” but I think just running more in general is helping me get faster. The 5K is in a couple of weeks, so we’ll see how fast I am then! :)

    Cassidy,

Yay! That is awesome! My hamstrings were so sore the next day!
