Queen of Leftovers

This afternoon’s post is going to be another quickie. The rest of my day is jam-packed with meetings! Oh, man! I’m so glad that it is almost Friday!!! :)

Lunch started off with raw green and red pepper slices with a scoop of veggie hummus. I like eating my veggies first, so I make sure to get my healthy nutrients and begin to fill-up and satisfy my stomach.

Lunch’s “main course” was leftover pink pesto pasta with broccoli and asparagus. (I really tried to make this photo attractive, but it just wasn’t happening!)

Lunch from above with a Pecan Pie Larabar, which, honestly, made me a tad more excited about Thanksgiving (and its desserts)! :)

And somehow these babies made their way into lunch… oh, chocolate cravings. Meh.

If I have time between meetings, my planned afternoon snack is a banana with peanut butter.

The Power of Positive Thinking

A reader shared this link in her comment this morning, and I thought it would be of interest to you guys. The article basically explains how destructive thinking can wreck your workout efforts. Definitely check it out: Changing your mind can change your body, too

Hairdyer Recommendations

I’m in serious need of a new hairdryer. The one that I currently own is from 2000, and it’s garbage. In addition to taking forever to dry my hair, it somehow manages to make my straight hair frizzy. Do you love your hairdryer? Would you recommend it?

I LOVE my hairdryer, but it was a bit pricey. I have very difficult hair, so it’s worth it- cut my drying time in half and leaves my hair much shinier and less frizzy than regular dryers. It’s a CHI Turbo and I think it was around $150 (I got it as a Christmas gift!). From the same maker of the beloved CHI flatiron :)

I LOVE my hairdryer and it’s the same as Bridget P’s, it’s the CHI Turbo. Yes, it’s pricey…but SO worth it!

ohh I am really interested in the hair dryer recommendations! I’ve had mine for four + years, and is starting to smell funky…. haha.
I definitely think that destructive thinking gets in the way of a workout. For example, I tell myself there’s no way I can sprint fast, so I either don’t try, or kind of give it a half-assed effort. But on days I tell myself Im strong and capable, I can get a much better workout in. I took a sports psychology class in college, and there was a chapter on how our mind dictates our day to day fluctuations in performance, not our bodies. I also got to speak to a sports psychoterapist who works with athletes who can’t perform their best because of negative self talk. Very interesting.
    Woah, long comment!

Go for the T3 – expensive, but a miracle dryer.

Elchim. It is so powerful…my roommate has a chi-turbo and always asks to use mine. I have thick wavy hair. The Elchim also has a lifetime warranty – my first one started to make noises so i went back to the place where i purchased it and for $18 they sent me a new one!

I have used hair dryers by Tigi (the company that makes the Bed Head products) and they are all pretty good. I currently have a Revlon one from Target that is just ok.

I can’t remember the brand of hair dryer I have, but I was always told to use one an ionic switch. It’s supposed to help with moisture and decrease static.

Random comment – I love the label on that PB jar. It’s so vintage!

i’ve only ever boughten my hair dryers from crappy discount stores and such and they work great! maybe it’s because i have such low expectations. however, my roommate has a fancy shmancy one from sephora and i can’t stand it-it takes forever to dry my hair. my crappy one is the best!

CONAIR IONIC!!! Dries my hair in 3 minutes and makes a 15 minute beauty routine possible.

Just realized there are about 25 different ionic ones. I’ll have to get back to you on the model.

I own a Conair Ion Shine® 1875 Styler. Here’s the link to it.

I absolutely love it. There was a point where I bought so many hair dryers. I hated the ones that burned my hair and overheated itself. This one is perfect. It’s large, but not heavy at all. Good for it’s price too.

I have the Remington TStudio ion one, and its fab! It’s pink and black which i love, and it makes my moderately curly hair not frizzy, and makes the task of ironing it later take about 1/4 the time. It was like, $30 at Ulta.

The bear on that jar of peanut butter is cracking me up :)

Sorry, no hair dryer recommendations, I tend to use whatever’s already plugged in in the bathroom.

my suggestion- ask your hairstylist to get you a pro one from one of the “pros only” stores. it will be costly, but very worth the investment. I got mine 5 years ago and it is still as good as new.

    Also, how’s the mac?

The ionic is a must and I like Conair’s too. My hair is curly so frizz is ALWAYS a concern. I think the IONIC feature really helps and I like having 3 diff heat settings.

As for the hairdryer, I totally recommend Super Solano. I’ve had mine for about 5 years or so and can’t live without it!! You can get them at Sally’s Beauty. Hope that helps!
