Out in Southie
Our friends, Ali and Christy, invited Mal and I, and our friend, Dave for dinner at their apartment last night. It was a last-minute invitation, so we figured dinner would be something simple like spaghetti. However, when we arrived at their apartment (which is gorgeous!), we were welcomed with the most amazing aroma of a home-cooked meal. Dinner was roasted chicken with all of the fixings– green beans, carrots, broccoli, and the best mashed red potatoes with gravy (heaven).
My plate…
Dinner was so good! I think we must have said that 20 times while eating! It’s funny how much you appreciate a true home-cooked meal once you move out of your parents’ house!
With wine…
Mal was super excited to eat this meal! He wanted me to hurry-up and take a photo, which is why he made this ridiculous face!
With dinner, we drank a delicious Syrah, a 2001 Columbia Winery bottle. It was so smooooth!
After dinner, we decided to go out to the Atlantic Beer Garden, which is a fairly new bar on the waterfront in South Boston. None of us had ever been there, so we were all excited to give it a try.
The Atlantic Beer Garden is a modern sports bar. It has a nice open feel to it with lots of windows, high ceilings, and tons of space to relax, enjoy a beer, and watch a game on one of their million plasma TVs. It’s a very chill place to hang out with friends. I noticed that there is a deck overlooking the ocean on the back of the bar, which will be awesome in the summer! I’ll have to remember this place when the warm weather arrives again!
Mr. Mal and me at the Atlantic Beer Garden…
At the bar, I drank a Blue Moon… and a glass of water. I was feeling pretty buzzed after drinking wine with dinner and a beer! I’m such a light-weight now!
I have lots to do this morning. I’m working at Healthworks from 2:00 – 8:00pm, which is pretty much my whole Sunday afternoon/evening, so I’ve got to get crackin’! Where did this weekend go!?!?

And your squash prune bread looks AMAZINGGGGGGGG.

Oh wow, that dinner looks gorgeous! I know what you mean about missing home cooked meals…. I cook for one (sad) so it’s hard to get the variety of foods I was able to get at home.
I hope your time at Healthworks is enjoyable!
