A Very Friday Lunch

I’m so lenient with my food choices on Fridays. Not that I eat horribly, but I more easily incorporate “fun” selections into my Friday diet. My eating on the weekend is somewhat lenient too, especially with eating out and get-togethers, but during the day, I usually stick to my (mostly) healthy diet and make sure that I fit in a sweaty workout. I know that some people believe that you shouldn’t “reward” yourself with food, but there’s just something about Fridays that make me loosen the reigns! Hello, big glass of wine! :)

My Friday lunch started with a blueberry-flavored Chobani, which was my first fruit-flavored yogurt from the brand. I’ve eaten the plain and vanilla flavors in the past, but never a fruity one. The verdict: awesome! Loved it! It was pretty much an amped-up blueberry yogurt with more protein and less sugar, but just as creamy and flavorful. To my Chobani, I added TJ’s high-fiber “twig” cereal. (I keep a bag in my office desk for easy access. It’s so much better than portioning a small plastic baggie and trekking it to work each time you want cereal in your yogurt… at least in my opinion!)

Lunch also included a lemon-flavored Larabar, which is currently #3 in my Larabar Flavor Rankings, but after my tasty experience this afternoon, it might move to spot #2! It tastes just like a lemon square!

I had a few quick errands to run after lunch, so on my way back to the office, I popped in JP Licks for a maple soy misto. Oh my gosh, it was amazing, and I haven’t had one in forever! Last year, Starbucks had this wonderful maple syrup that they used for their maple latte, but unfortunately, they discontinued it this year… which meant no maple mistos for Tina. How sad. :( I was excited to see that JP Licks had a maple latte (and maple syrup!) on their menu, so I just had to order a maple misto! One word: divine! It’s funny how happy food makes me sometimes!

Dinner Date at South Station

Because Mal and I leave for NYC right around dinnertime and don’t arrive until 9:30 PM, we planned to grab dinner at South Station before we get on the bus. There are quite a few healthy food options at South Station– I’m thinking of ordering a sandwich from Cosi or Au Bon Pain? Whatever it is, it definitely needs to be something easy to eat on a cramped bus! What would you get for a 4.5 hour bus ride?

1 more hour of work, and then mini-vacation! :D

I’d get soup from Au Bon Pain – something high in fiber, like a veggie/bean soup (lentil soup would be good)! I love the cafe smart menu that ABP has, because you can just plan out your meal before you leave (especially if calories are an issue).

I’m the same way on Fridays. Not really rewards…just a little easier on myself ;) . I usually get a nice misto after work before I do my food shopping and Josh and I go out to dinner. I love Cosi! SO …i’d probably get cosi :) . Hope you have so much fun!

Lemon larabars are definitely my favourite flavour – and I’m not normally a lemon lover!! :)

I’d prolly do a sandwich and some sort of soup I could sip through a cup like a tomato or bean soup if possible.

I love Fridays, my fav day! :D Have a great time in NYC!

I’d get a sandwich from ABP. Soup is good but hard to eat on the bus. I think they have good kettle baked chips if you like those too. Or even a fruit cup. They have so many good choices! Enjoy your trip!! :)

    Tina-

you should try the fire-roasted veggie flatbread sandwich from Cosi! I had it the other day and it was awesome:) It is filling, healthy, and not too calorie dense!

Sandwich most definitely, there are great sandwich options in South Station. I would get something I could gnaw on for a while… like pretzels, too! Enough to share :-)

Despite the million times I’ve been through South Station, I’ve never had enough time to stop and eat there! I would definitely go with Cosi or Au Bon Pain. Despite the fact that there’s a salad station, it never looks quite right if you know what I mean. Rosie’s Bakery is hard to walk past though!

A sandwich and a piece of fruit. Don’t do soup. You wouldn’t want to use the bus’ toilet. :P And bring a granola bar as an emergency snack.
