My Camera is Dying

Sad news: My camera has finally kicked the bucket. My photos just don’t look as sharp and clear as they used to, which, honestly, is completely understandable considering the abuse my camera has taken over the last 2 years. Poor, poor camera.

The new camera that I really want is this one, but I’ll probably opt for something much cheaper. I’m a die-hard Canon user, so I will likely buy an inexpensive PowerShot ELPH. My last 2 digital cameras were PowerShot ELPHs, and I loved them! So easy to use and they take GREAT photos! Of course, if you have recommendations, please send them my way! :)

Breakfast this morning was the usual: Instant oatmeal with honey Puffins, banana, and 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter. I feel like I should apologize for eating the same thing almost every morning, but I just really love this breakfast! It’s so satisfying and delicious! Peanut butter, banana, and healthy carbs, especially after a workout, are the BEST refueling foods.

Lunch was a wonderful Mal-made sandwich. As part of Mal’s Sunday night ritual, he makes 5 sandwiches, all at once, for the upcoming work week. He wraps each one in tinfoil, keeps them in his classroom refrigerator, and eats one each day of the week. Mal swears that the sandwiches keep fairly well and don’t get soggy. Although, he has admitted that his Friday sandwich isn’t always the freshest.

While Mal was making his stash of sandwiches for the week, he made a couple for me as well. Mal’s sandwich creation: ham and swiss on whole wheat with sprouts and tomato. So good! And I have another one to look forward to tomorrow! :)

Lunch concluded with a ginger snap Larabar. Yuuummm.

My planned afternoon snack is peach-flavored Chobani with fiber sticks. (Not the whole bag of fiber sticks pictured. I just brought the big bag to work, so I wouldn’t need to keep packing little baggies of cereal.)

My sandwich and Larabar are doing a fantastic job warding off my hunger. At some point, I will need to eat my snack because I am working at HW tonight and won’t have a chance to eat dinner until almost 9:00. These long days are killer!

As much as you use your camera, I say invest in the Power Shot! Expensive, yes, but worth it. I have an older model and it takes the BEST photos. With a cheaper one you’ll just have to buy a new one sooner!

Oh, and re: Mal’s sandwiches, I had a friend do the exact same thing but she would freeze them all on Sunday and take one out each day. They’d thaw by lunchtime. I dunno, though, I don’t like freezer burn OR soggy bread!

For the money I am a huge fan of SLR’s. I just bought an Olympus and I absolutely love it. It takes wonderful pictures and is really inspiring me to take more pictures.

i can’t believe that about Mal’s sandwiches. I had a friend who does NOT cook AT ALL. She made 10 sandwiches on Sunday night, one each for her and her husband…they were peanut butter and jelly! yuck. I hope Mal’s sandwiches stand up a little bit better than theirs did. I can’t imagine the Friday pb&j’s!

I do the same thing with my sandwiches! It works out well, as long as you don’t put any wet condiments (like mustard or mayo) directly on the bread.

It’s the tomato that makes the sarnies soggy by friday. In fact, I find my sammies get soggy by lunchtime if I put tomatoes in at breakfast!! Sadly they have to travel separately and go in at the last nanosecond!

Just curious–why do you call the cereal fiber sticks instead of Fiber One? I noticed that you use brand names for most of your “regular” food choices, but not for this one.

    Your breakfast looks fabulous!

I’m definitely a Canon fan. Had the first digital Elph years ago, got their first consumer dSLR, and now I’ve upgraded to their better dSLR about a year ago.

With all that said, we use our Casio Exilim for most of our day-to-day photos. It’s fairly inexpensive, super-small, and takes decent photos. I take a lot (not all) of the photos in my blog with the Exilim. We liked our first generation so much that we got their most recent model last Christmas.

    All,

Thanks for your camera recommendations! :)

    runninghigh,

My fiber sticks are the Stop & Shop brand– pretty much the same thing as Fiber One.
